I biggest obstacle

My biggest obstacle is procrastination, I can not get around it! It haunts me like a bad dream. I would love to become a real-estate investor but I just cant seem to get on first base. I have two of your books, off and on I listen to your weekly wisdom video which are "GREAT" but for some reason things are just not registering. I think one of the problems I have is that I don't have friends that are interested in things I am interested in, such as real-estate and becoming financially independent. Please help,

Thanks,

Warren

Biggest Fear

Prospering's picture

What a monumentally universe sized question. I would have to say ME. In my almost 55 years of pathetic existence I always seem to prove I'm wrong. Through my growing up years I was repeatedly told my attitude was wrong. I always seem to say the wrong thing. I decide to turn right which is the correct way to go and I will inevitably talk my self out of it and turn left. It's like when I started getting interested in girls and Dad would tell me the girls you are interested in are out of your league. Or when he gave me a chain saw, a Craftsman, both he and I know it's a poor excuse for a chain saw based on mutual experience. As he said its good enough for you. A few years ago I had a cold and it caused my voice to deepen or so it sounded in my head. I thought I'll redo my answering machine message with my albeit temporary deep & cool voice. My aunt called when I was out and her response to my new cool voice message was "Why do you sound so angry?" Even if something starts out "right" my input will make it wrong. So I live a rather solitary life because I say, or do the wrong thing. So continually proving I am wrong is my biggest fear

I want Deans' I pad

NO MORE FEAR . Finally it has happened to me I can step up and tell every one" I am a Real State Whole Sale Investor". No more hiding.
The confidence from going threw with going to the 2015 Edge has change who I am when I came back home. So many DGrs offer their help to me I got a tone of cards to call for help . I no longer wonder how and were do I start,
Deans staff and Dean are jus fantastic. It felt so grand to meet them live and because I have seen the previous Edges I felt very comfortable enough to sit in the very front row and share with everyone my fears and why I had come to the Edge event this year , to try and save my house.
Thanks to every one I have my goals , and will get stared looking for my first deal, woooohoo

My biggest fear...

... is not being able to sell the properties.

You do all the right steps, you run the comps, the numbers look good, your are able to close on the deal and then you keep sitting on the property. No buyers who are interested.

This can be very discouraging!

My biggest fear

My biggest fear is not making it in real estate investing and me going back to square one where I would need to figure out a career for myself. With this fear I would push myself forward and only succeed in real estate.

My biggest fear

Thanks for this opportunity to comment, Dean. I admit that my biggest fear, what has paralyzed me over the years has been doubt. Can I do this? But staying on this site, reading post, watching Weekly Wisdom each week has helped me realize that:YES I CAN!

Hey Dean!

This one is tough and makes me emotional. I try to dance with my fear and us it to motivate me to stay focused and keep pushing.

My biggest fear is my boys and wife will have to take care of and provide for me when I get older due to my previous spinal cord injury and that I will not live to an old age to enjoy my grandkids.

It was great to see you this past weekend! Outstanding EDGE event this year! Thanks for all you do!

Make it a great week!

My biggest obstacle procrastination and I am a TV junkie. My biggest fear is picking up anything dead. I am trying to shift my mind set to a doer rather than a bystander. Can see that happen slowly with your help. I have to say to myself I will be a real estate investor.

My Biggest Challenge

My biggest obstacle is time management with knowing what I do will produce a result that is enough to continue with the next step forward. knowing that time is precious, having the courage to do something different is just as precious.

Fear of success

Sheryl Penu's picture

My biggest fear of success is that it would undermine my husband's hard work to provide for us. He doesn't object to me making money, but he's skeptical about it and thinks I'm discontented for wanting more. I'm afraid of making him feel inadequate.

What is holding me back

Main thing is money or lack of money, to be honest. I can always make time.

Hi Dean, My biggest obstacle

Hi Dean,
My biggest obstacle is that I am retired no money and I am in fixed income and if I loose how am I going to pay my debt? I think you can understand my situation.

I still think that you doing a great job, keep it up also keep sending the weekly wisdom every week I wait for them.

Thanks again Dean and God bless

To fail my loved ones. Not find the right person to borrow from.

Burned Out

Real estate has not been what my husband and I though it would be. Phillips has been a REALTOR for about 8 or 9 years. And I have been in for about 6 years. I say it is our hobby because we rarely get paid, but we are encouraged to give a lot of free stuff which keeps us busy, so I call it my volunteer work. We spend way more than comes in. Wholesaling is not a good fit for us. Being Realtors complicated the process. We hope to buy hud or reo. Property. Just nothing seems to work our way when it comes to real estate. We tried to purchase several homes SF. Properties to include a nice size apartment complex. It just did not work out. Nothing has.

MY BIGGEST OBSTACLE TO TRUE SUCCESS IS...

BETTYBUYSHOMESCASH's picture

Hello, Dean! My biggest obstacle, at least in real estate, is pulling the darn trigger...making that offer then the time clock winding down and I may not be ready to make the financial move needed in order to make the deal happen. What it really boils down to is fear of the unknown. See, I am typically a very confident person...Im like a peacock!!! I love to show off my feathers! But I know that once I get over the initial fear of making my first offer in real estate, I will be able to make money...beyond my wildest dreams! And it's not so much the money

Biggest Fear

Hi Dean,

My biggest fear is making a financial mistake that will put me back instead of ahead. So I am SLOWWWW to move on deals..........I always freeze up when it's time to make the decision to go forward with a deal. I've made one deal........but it was pretty low risk. After I had a property under contract and could not get a buyer, the seller said he would give me some $$ if I still found him a buyer, which I did. So I only got $1K when all was said and done. At least I am still learning lots........so that is the good thing! I am looking forward to your videos you will be sending out....Thanks!

My Biggest Obstacle

It's a toss-up between not having enough information on which method to use for a deal or listening to advice that makes the deal a no-go when it might have worked without their advice.

Self sabotaging. A variety of reasons, and I am the master of techniques!

Biggest Obstacle

My biggest obstacle is having lost money on my first rehab and being afraid I will do it again.

Real estate wholesaling: Nothing I've tried has worked. Bandit signs, going to the realtor meetings, etc.

No 100%

There is no such thing as a 100%....100% guarantee, 100% perfect, 100% right, 100% wrong, or 100% anything. Somethings will simply not work for some.

BIGGEST FEAR

FIRST IT IS CHANGE,NOT THE THE COINS IN MY POCKET.
2ND ITS GETTING THE EDUCATION TO THE ROAD,TESTING THE FACTS TO SEE IT WORK.
3RD MAKING IT A FIRST PRIORTY IN LIST OF THINGS TO DO.
4TH FEAR OF NOT HAVING SUCCESS.
5TH THAT MY WIFE WON'T LIKE MY PLAN.
6TH FUNDING NOT EASY FOR ME TO GET.

Unable to manage my affairs

I know exactly what I need to succeed in my life. I am a perfectionist. I am a good planner and an equally bad execueter. I hardly execute my plan. At the time of doing wrong I know that I am doing something wrong but find it difficult to remove myself from that job. According to me my attention span is very low which results in low focus due to which I fail to do what I should be doing.

Biggest Obstacle is not fear...it is Guilt

I started this journey a year ago. This business was supposed to be something I did with my daughter...a fresh start for both of us, but mostly for her. She is 31 years old and is struggling with mental health and addiction issues. I think I've been waiting for her, but I am not sure she will ever be able to come with me on this path...or any path. We had all these plans...all these dreams. Every time I think about moving forward - toward the success I know I can achieve - I stop and look back...wondering what kind of person I am, if I don't stand here waiting - forever, if that is what she needs. But, even as I write these words, I know that my success is not some new evidence of her failure. My success could actually create an ongoing opportunity for her to join me, whenever or IF ever she becomes ready. All I know for sure is that I am ready. Yikes! Here I go!

My biggest obstacle

AndyS's picture

is ME!!!! I know that's the problem. You see, I have owned my current business for 25 years now and have brought it to the brink of that "next level" success only to not be able to get it there. I'm a control freak. There, I admit it. I started out those 25 years ago making a product that was better than anyone else's and my proof of that was my customers telling me so. The problem became when my customers would notice the lack of the same quality when I was giving my product to others to make. So I became that 1 man army and had to do it all and that's the problem. My "unique ability" and what I like most about the business seems to be the part of the job that pays the least and is the most time consuming. I realize now, through your life coaching and weekly wisdoms, that if I am to ever get to that next level, this needs to change. Which brought me to my biggest fear, that I would need to close this biz and find a J O B which caused me to start yet another business that I had previously been in and did quite well at. Problem now is, I now have 2 JOBs that are my passion. I enjoy doing them so much but they don't make a lot of money and they need my constant attention. How do I break this cycle?

MY Biggest Fear

My biggest fear is getting started and not get results. My finances is my obstacles that holds me back from take action."STINKING THINKING "not haviving enough money to provide for my family as single mom.

No passion

Evgen's picture

I don't think I have any fears that are obstacles. My biggest obstacle to becoming truly great is lacking sufficient motivation and passion to go for anything. I am mostly content with life. I could have greater impact on the world and life of others, but somehow I am not motivated enough to strive for it. Bummer. You say "find your why". I can't find it. That bothers me somewhat. Yet not enough to do anything major Smiling

Maybe I should be a monk...

Void is scary too

My Biggest Fear

I really wish that I had a cheerleader. Someone to guide and motivate me. This would save me from making many mistakes and wasting so much time!
