Okay, I have tried this route, and it is 9:0 am. on Tuesday morning, and I have just gotten 3 calls from this route. This really suprised me, and I am happy that I dropped some business cards off at these places. I think of things differently, and try to work backwards to see where I can find sellers and buyers. Well, what I did was drop a few business cards off at funeral homes. I didn't know if that would work or not, but it has. From what I have heard, is there are times where the funeral home has loved ones come in and they just don't know what they are going to do with the house that they can't afford now. They basically cry, vent, etc. to the funeral home with all of their mixed emotions that they are going through. After the funeral has passed, and they are going through trying to get back on track, they will then contact the funeral home to see if they know of anything to help them with different aspects of their life. One of those aspects is that they will call the funeral home and ask which realtor could handle their home. Especially if it's family that doesn't live in the town. The funeral home will give out the name of the realtor, as well as my name. They contact me, and I go and look at the property and see what I can do with the property. I have one that I have to go look at some today. Just a thought.....

Destrie,
I applaud your creative thinking. Some may feel a funeral home may be too intrusive or in appropropriate, yet others may feel that by providing the information to the funeral home to pass along to families you are helping those families. People will work at their comfort level, and this would not make me uncomfortabe as I believe your idea is an opportunity to help. It's an option for a family at a time when they may be too overwhelmed to be able to figure out what to do. I always want to be helpful in my investing and this idea certainly appeals to me from that standpoint.
Thank you for sharing this, Destrie.

One really good idea cause i'm working on probate cases and the place you mention is a really good place to have your info on hand for the families to have available, try to do anything to help them and help your self thanks again.
That's a great idea!! I would have never thought of that- I've just been dropping them off at banks, resteraunts, dr's office, things like that, but your right, a funeral home is source of info for people trying to get it back together. Thanks for the idea!!
You get an A++ for creativity and we all get to benefit from your brilliance because you're willing to share.

Great tip. This really makes a win-win situation because the family is still dealing with the loss of a loved one (the funeral doesn't end the grief, obviously). Taking care of the property gives them one less stress to manage. Thanks.
in this business are those who deal with the after clean up, of restoring a property back to its present condition (before the tragedy happened), after someone has passed away alone by themselves or committed suicide.

Well said
I heard of a guy that used to go to houses that were burned to a crisp, still smoldering, and give his business cards to the homeowners. Not the best idea, but he was eager and willing to try anything. Fortunately for me, my daughter's mother-in-law works for a funeral home. I'll talk to her and see if I can give her my business cards. I thought about it but never got around to asking her when I visit them. But I will share your story with her and see if she's open to it. ;D
