Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog #126 - The Benefits of Delayed Gratification

Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog It's a fast moving, fast food, get it now society that we live in. It seems nobody wants to be a bamboo farmer.

Well this week Dean masterfully eases us into the mindset of patience and persistence. Hey...maybe your kids should watch this one with you eh? Have a great week.

A boost that I truly needed

I have taken alot of action steps but that is my weakest area and the most important one. It's more complicated for someone that has absolutely nothing working for them. Know money,no credit, and have had to overcome so much. Tired of a hard life. I'm inspired by DG and this blog inspired me to keep going and focus more on those weak areas. Searching harder for those willing to help, take action to a much higher level. Focused again THANKS DEAN

Delayed Gratification

johnk's picture

I agree, we all have to look forward to see the results of the work we do today. I have worked as a finish carpenter for over 30 years. There is nothing sweeter than to see the finished product when you come to the end of the job. The same is true with real estate, the research, the shopping for the right house or property, shopping for the right banks, realtors, weeding through all the contractors who you hope will do a great job. It all leads to the end product, the pride of knowing that you have done an awesome job (Not to mention the paycheck). Seeing everything fall into place like a puzzle. That's Gratifying!! Thanks Dean for all your inspirational Blogs. John

Real Estate & Farming

This is an excellent comparison, and one advantage that farming has is that the corn along I-65 doesn't sue you for more fertilizer. Yet.

Instant Motivation

Thanks Dean for those amazing and oh so true words of wisdom! I am just starting out and have been on that roller coaster ride already, with 3 rentals saying no (don't want to sell) and contacted 2 investors who look up their own deals! I was feeling pretty defeated but your words and positive energy always make my day! This morning's email I found a local investor willing to meet with me to explain what he is looking for and eager to get on with my bird doggin! Smiling I can see the light and if it weren't for your monthly blogs I would have never attempted to just give it a try, your words today mean so much more, Thanks a Million Dean!

Persistance

Dean, It's been years since my interest and passion for real estate was started. I keep pushing and remain intrested and passionate about reading what to do, but, for some reason...I can't get to the next level. My brother calls me a dreamer - maybe I am. But I know one day I'll have my first deal that will trigger the rest of my life. Thank you so much for posting these blogs...as long as you do this, I promise I will never give up.Thank you.

the three p's

you are so right,we are in a fast food type -,we want it now, quick, fast and in a hurry, but without the 2p's patience, persistence there is no payoff.
Happy Easter,to you and yours. see you from the top.

The Benefits of Delayed Gratification

Dean: Spectacular! My first thought is to call a buddy that is in your success academy, he is in a stall.

The second is to review this blog myself, a lot, until I get over MY block. Thanks, and perhaps you have helped two guys with the joy of the Resurrection!

As ever, Gentle Ben [aka Santa New Orleans]

HI Dean,

Hope you and DG'ers had a wonderful Easter.

Liked your e-mail to go see the blog. I find myself stumped knowing what to say. I never ever posted to any website until I joined DG.com. When I come to post I feel like I am on stage, with the video playing, all those posts staring back at you, telling all their stories about their life and making deals. Very unique experience for an IA farm girl.

Growing up on the farm and being involved in self-employment all my life and past experiences of nursing and attempting to make a deal, has taken much perseverance and sometimes can stretch your faith beyond imagination. There is no room for instant self gratification. Very nice video blog.

Have a great week.

Hi Dean. Thank you for your

Hi Dean. Thank you for your words of encouragements. I enrolled in Success Academy but so I far I did not do much. I got a little bit overwhelmed with the everything but I have to get back to it. I am questioning myself and everything around and your message every weeks gives me courage not to give up.
Ivana.

right on target

that's just what is happening to me right now, I did talk to three realtors they said no, or just didn't called me back, to three banks nothing, I asked myself I'm I doing this right or am I missing the mark!! Well after some self talk I told myself this is just a step to the real thing. And once I do have a deal i will reap the harvest.... Thank you Dean!!!

New Kid on the block

bigdogs1's picture

Dean thanks for the inspiration as usual.I'm new at this and I felt like I was in the Atlantic ocean just floating around and not a rescue boat in sight. In the back of my mind I'm saying hang in there kid,the water might be rough right now but I'll make it after I get through the rough waters . Everything can be overwhelming when it is new but as soon as the knowledge is absorbed there will be better days ahead of me.

Delayed Gratification...VERY Delayed...but very GRATIFYING!

Dean,
Thank you! I bought your first book back in 2009, and now own 3 of them. You were a strong motivation for me from the beginning. Than and Paul at CT Homes have also been important role models for me. I started an REI Co. in Nov 09 and created an LLC in Jan 2010. I jumped through every hoop imaginable. Put in offers on tons of homes, built 2 websites and 3 lead capture pages, mailed post cards etc etc. In all I actually got 6 houses on contract in 2010 and had to walk away from every one of them because I couldn't either wholesale them in time and/or didn't have the money lined up to do the rehab myself. Very frustrating. That represented a total of over $200,000 in lost profits. I didn't intend to start a Non Profit REI Company, but a year later, that's what I had. In April of 2010, I lost my $140K management position so I was desperate to make this happen...but it didn't. Finally, after watching my 401k sitting stagnant, I decided to move it to an IRA and make a play with my own money. It was my last attempt. I had several contacts in Northern CA so I put out a JV request. On March 18th I bought a house in Sacramento CA for $75,000. Since then we put about $13k into rehab and completed it last Saturday! My first deal, OMG! It's now on the market for $129,500. After all costs, we should clear $27,000 in profit! I can't tell you how important this delayed gratification is to me and my family! Now, it's close the deal, and on to the next one. Thanks for your positive attitude! Thankfully, it's contagious. I appreciate all your support.

Sower and the seed

The power of philosophy is the truth. thanks so much I just need to stop procrastinating and got down don't wanna waste anybody's time not even mine seems my wishes to join the success academy will always be a financial impossibility so I gotta find my way with the tools I have and mind over the matter. Believing it is possible with faith and works and hope in seeing the light of that day when the ice breaks.

The Sweet Gratification!!

Persist and be patient

Arrowstar's picture

I am getting my feet wet, and yes, I am seeing this is a process....that will not happen overnight! But I am making progress, and getting more comfortable talking to people and making offers. Have not had one accepted yet, but I know I will!! Thanks for all the great advice, Dean. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter!

Wow!

Jen, what an encourager your response is to me. Too often even those closest to us do not understand our dreams and plans for the present and future.
Thanks for sharing yours.
And, thanks Dean for your Video that drew out all these experiences people are sharing.
Seems like 'a family that understands and knows!'
Making my day!

Agreed!!!

I've been busy with work and school but I still find time at the end of my day to read and take notes on your book. I have owned this book and am new to this for a little over a week now and trust me I would love to be further on and making my first deal. Now I am done with school until my summer class starts in mid-June so I look forward to having that extra time to sit down and drill your book as I would a text book. It is not fun but I do it for the gratification I will get from this wisdom in the upcoming months and so on. Thanks for all your support and your book makes me take a different look on life and trust me when I say it is 100% more enjoyable and I can pass this advice on to others.

Thanks again dean!

Great blog dean, It takes time for us to build up that motivation. "Yes there will be times when we hit certain roadblock or obsticles we will have times in our lives where somethings won't workout, but we keep pressing forward and in time we will become stronger and it pays off in the end.You have to make the time and put in the work before you can expect to see results!"It takes time, but we will prevail"

First time I responded to your blog

Thanks for the constant flow of reenergizing encouragment every week, I really appreiciate youre always going the extra mile for us. Its a good feeling to know that everything is going just as it should be as long as I keep working at it, its supposed to be taking time, And the payoff in time will come....

You are the master of

You are the master of motivation Dean. Great blog! Just remember that when your trying to keep your head above water and life pulls your feet and you go under some, keep swimming, we will pop back up, and that boat we eventually find will be that delayed gratification!

Hey Dean

rresnick2112's picture

Sorry it took so long to post, but better late than never. I, like many want everything now but I havent worked hard enough for it yet so Im gonna keep it short because Ive got lots of action steps to get done. I dont care what your endeavor may be; when you snoop and sniff around for whatever it is your looking for or doing (in this case RE), things are gonna happen. Period, end of story. DO IT.

P.S. I have to tell myself this everyday to get it rollin and that delayed gratification will come. I promise myself this.

EVERY NO GETS US CLOSER TO THE YES

HI DEAN, HOPE ALL IS WELL

YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. I GOT TRAINED BY YOUR BEST STUDENT Smiling AND I LANDED MY FIRST DEAL IN 29 DAYS. I WAS ASSIGNING THIS PROPERTY, AND ALL I WAS GETTING FROM MY FIRST DEAL WERE NO NO NO NO. REALTORS WERE TELLING ME NO, INVESTOR WERE TELLING ME NO BECAUSE IT WAS ILEGAL TO ASSIGN OR BECAUSE IT CAN ONLY BE A CASH DEAL. I DIDN'T CARE, I JUST KEPT PUSHING FURTHER AND HARDER AND KEPT ASKING QUESTION TO YOUR ADVISOR UNTIL I GOT MY FIRST YES, AND I WAS STILL ABLE TO CLOSE THE DEAL IN 30 DAYS AND GET PAID Smiling

THANKS DEAN
THANKS CBR POWER AND THANK YOU ADVISE LINE
