Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog #98 - The 2nd Part of the Challenge from Last Week

Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog

So, did you take Dean up on his "news" diet
challenge from last week? If so, how'd you do?

Was it tough for you or no big deal?

We want to hear from you, so post your experiences
below. But before you do, watch this week's video
to see what causes Dean to get all "goosebumpy"
after he reveals part two of the challenge.

I think you're gonna like it.

News Diet

I started to change my daily habit of watching the news in the morning last month when Matt Larson posted his SuperHuman thread. I figured I already had the making my bed daily down so I decided to stop the news Smiling

It has been slightly challenging, and I have occasionally reverted mostly because I have kids and I have depended on the community portions of the local news for community happenings. Since I don't get a newspaper I have used that to see what's happening at the fall festivals and various activities. I have just added some of our favorite places to my weekly search online to see what's going on there so I can keep up on the fun activities (positive stuff) without watching the news. And i've used the internet to see the weather.

Thanks for the next portion of the challenge. I think that will be harder in that, unfortunately, I have a lot of negative people in the family so i will be avoiding conversations for a while. But you are right, surrounding yourself with positive is good. Hoping i can stay positive through all of lifes curve balls this week. Thanks for the challenge.

Easy As Pie!

Dean, the no news diet was easy for me, because I'm not a news person anyway. This week, however will be a little tougher, because I have some really negative people in my life. I'll just have to work extra hard this week to tune them out.

Living in Southeast Michigan makes that challenge extra difficult because, so many people have been hit really hard by the bad economy. In fact, I had a woman approach me and ask for money in the grocery store parking lot, just yesterday.

Still, I'm looking forward to a week of new challenges. Thank you Dean, for all your support and inspiration. God Bless You and I hope everyone has a Blessed week. Myra

Challenge Part 2

sweetrsue's picture

For several years I have had a clear understanding that news is bad for you. I don't watch. I won't watch. Only recently though have I adopted the idea of getting negativity out of my circle. In fact I made myself a meditation tape and have inserted nothing but positive thoughts. How I get better and better every day, closer and closer to my goals. I think I stumbled across Dean at the perfect moment in my life.

Both Challenges Accepted

The No News diet, was easy! We had a lot of family time. Games, some singing, anyone have some of the rock bands? So much fun. The challenge (part 2) might be a little more complicated because we have neg. influences all around us. I will do my best in this 2nd challenge and walk away, not to be rude but excuse myself when the neg. talk starts to flow from other people. Wish everyone luck! Cool

Conversation Challenge

Hi Dean, well the news challenge was pretty easy for me. I gave that up a long time ago. I have 4 children and I don't need the negative news to steal my energy ... I need all my energy for my family and friends and now real estate investing Eye-wink

I know I won't have a problem with the negative people or conversations too. As a Christian, I have had my "spiritual gift" identified to be "An Encourager". I never noticed before, but I do have tendency to find the "bright-side" of everything.

However, I can't leave my family when they get into "negative" moods, BUT I CAN make rules to try and combat this behavior. In our house, for every negative complaint you make, you have to follow the complaint with 3 things for which you are thankful. This works great with my teenage daughter Eye-wink

Before any of you think I'm little "miss perfect" ... know that this is something for which I am EXTREMELY conscientious. I have had numerous challenges throughout my life and my life line has been the bible. I had to work hard to CHANGE THE WAY I THINK. Only years later has this "positive attitude" been my way of life. Now, it is nice to be a part of the "Graziosi" family to keep encouraging me to be positive in my secular life Smiling

I'm looking forward to joining the team of real estate millionaires Smiling

Keep up the great work!

No such thing as negative news!

PRYME Home Buyers's picture

I believe that the news becomes negative when you make it that way. I think bad news or good news depends on you. As far as talking to negative people well, there goes my talking for the next week. Unfortunately all the people that surround me are going through hard times and instead of changing and trying to make it better it's easier to complain about it. Most people already don't like talking to me because I don't agree with there "negative views". Dean truly seems like a person who enjoys living and not just because his rich but because he appears to love life and that helps all the people here. Thanks Dean for your time.

Hi Dean, Yes, I went on the

Hi Dean,

Yes, I went on the news diet. No problem for me. It just left me feeling good about life all week.

I have periodically been going on a news diet ever since I first read your book "Profit from Real Estate Right Now". You talked about news diets in the book and I started back then. It's been a few months now, and ever so often, I will challenge myself to leave the news alone.

As for thinking about something positive, to replace something negative, Joel Osteen was just preaching on that last week, and this week. So, I've already implimented that into my life, as well.

Thank you for being a positive influence in my life, as well. May God bless you to continue to change people's lives in a positive way.

Talk to you soon!

It started out soooo easy

sboeve's picture

as I don't like watching the news to begin with. But, it became difficult as more and more people approached me about the news of Bank of America stopping foreclosures. I tried to respond as possitively as possible and tried to change the subject.

It is so true that eliminating the negative does so much for your outlook on life. And, it's funny how I have found that when you try to turn the topic to something positive in a conversation with a generally negative person they have a hard time continuing.

I plan on trying every day to be a positive voice in the world and eliminating the negative from my life completely. Thanks for reminding us of the importance of this!

The Fist Challege

alfdalsr's picture

Dean, I usually look at one half hour news and that is the 5:30 Central Time news, so I am not infected with the news like others.

I play classical music most of time. Because you are right. Most of the news are negative, and you can pick up those vibes and can feel evething is negative around you.

So thanks advice.

News Diet Challenge

ttjudge's picture

Yep I did it, except for when I fiance' told me that the drillers in Chile had reached the miners. Other than that I stayed away from the news. It was differcult, as I normally wake up in the morning and turn on the news. I usually watch the 6:00 and 11:00 news as well. Now, I have to find something else to do during those time frames.

I'm up for the next challenge, no negative thoughts and no negative information and people.

News absentee

Dean,I took the trip with you as you stated, last week and it was great. Looking to not watching any news except the weather and the is God's control. Otherwise, I will never listen to bad things or talk about negative things again. Thanks Dean, for the info
I am a newbie and I am learning a lot.

last weeks challenge.

sscotch's picture

Dean,
I did follow your advice. I did not watch the news or read the newspaper all week. It actually helped. Without being subjected to all the negative events on tv or in the newspaper, I was able to start having a positive outlook on things. I will definitly take on the second challege. I want to be able to think positive and maybe even help others think positve too.
Dean, thanks again for your inspiring advice, it always keeps me motivated.
Thanks again!

Hi Dean,

These are good challenges. We did pretty well with out the news, we aren't big news watchers, any way
the news gives no hope. Another place you had to avoid the news is your computer, that's the first thing that comes up on your computer, have to hurry to find the website you're wanting to log into. I have been really trying to work on the negative conversations thing and mindset. You can take control of where the conversation is going. It really is a mindset and what you want to focus on.
We had good news this weekend. Our son and his wife are having there first child. We do have so much to be thankful for. Good news out weighs the bad news. Thanks for sharing from the heart, it is helping me bunches. God bless you and your family.

i only watch for the weather

i am new and i only watch the weather, thats crazy in so cal. 114 one day and 70 with in few days later. dont know what is happening in the rest of the world. all my time is conumed with reading deans books amd family stuff.
love you dean

good news

it was easier than i thought, i used the time that i usally look or listen to the news and study my real estate material. its working out find i'm learning more faster. thanks dean.

This was the one technique I've used

since reading the "How to Profit from RE Now..." book.
It really hit home w/ me somehow, & I've been applying it to some degree especially after I noticed the benefits.
I stumble every now & then but overall, I've maintained my news & negativity boycott.

Good stuff.

News Challenge

I did take you up on that challenge. I don't really watch the news anyway. But way to go

News, I can take it or leave it

Generally I read enough news to have a decent idea on what is happening in the world, and to not be lost when conversations about the news are brought up. This week showed me, I can do without these things. I slept like a baby even though I kept skipping the news everyday, and with the right "nudge", people can go on and on about anything they're care for. So news wasn't the only thing to speak about.

Meeting 2nd challenge

Meeting challenge #1 was real easy I just didn't watch any news. I don't watch alot of tv. I only have it on in the night so I can sleep. I watch the game shows. But your 2nd part is going to be tough because I live with my sister & her husband and they are very negative people. I only see them when they get home from work & they are home some time on the weekends. I cannot tell them what to say in their own home. But I will really try. And yes I have been trying to say to my self every night before I go to sleep what I am thankful for. And yes it does work. But you know that when you feel yourself start falling back (getting depressed) just turn on the tv and just listen for a couple of minutes and you see that a whole lot of people have it alot worse than we do. So that should take you instantly out of your depession.

Thank for another get blog and for caring so much about us.

Bertha

Thanks Dean

I took you up on the challenge
i didn't watch the news or read the paper at all last week but after the first time you posted about this i have been doing it ever since i think it was when you had first made the site and ever since it has been great and funny thing after doing is so much and telling myself the 3 things that im grateful for it became a habbit and not watching the news

great as always and keep up the good work

One word, WOW!

dgskysthelimit's picture

I watched last weeks vid blog and I've heard that term before, "news diet" and i never really tried to go on one before. This time was different, I dont know why, maybe because I never really noticed the effects of it until now.

News Diet Effects:
1. My entire week just breezed by
2. I focused on alot of things that needed to get done
3. I got alot of tasked done, crossed off my list n on to the next
4. Now listen to this because its very important, I didnt worry about... ANYTHING! My mind wasnt focused on the things that were bad or not going so great around the world you know, I just knew there were things to be done and did them. It was AMAZING!

If you havent yet you definately need to try the DND(Deans News Diet) It will change your life...

I would recommend this to anyone...

Piece of Cake!

theLiON's picture

I did the news diet this last week for a whole week without and I think what helped me also was that I did it after reading your PROFIT FROM REAL ESTATE NOW book. Staying away from the news was almost like an elephant lifted off my back.

I always said to myself before I read your book that the news was so freakn negative and depressing to watch. So when you suggested it I was actually pretty excited to see the results from it mentally.

All I can say is that it has really helped me to stay focus and positive through an obvious tough economy by staying away from negative news and negative discussions. Thanks Dean!

Hi Dean,

James Laurent's picture

Hi Dean, I would say, I'll take you up on the news and reduce the negative Info., but my wife works at, Mass General Hospital, Emergency Dept., so we are, in one way or the other involved with the news, all the time, any way you look at it... I am an Artist, Song Writer and Musician, and use the news, (NPR and other), good or bad, all the time, and I don't try to avoid it, I use it in my work... But Thank You Anyway, And I Wish Everyone Else Good Luck With Their Choice...
And Yes, We All Have A Choice; It Is What We Do With It At The Time, That Is Good Or Bad, For Any One Of Us...
Thank You, James of Restless Spirit

And Thank You For All Your Blogs, And All The Work You Do For Everyone!

Dean what a Blessing You Are

RightChoiceToday's picture

I mean it Dean. In the spirit I love you and I know the Father is proud of you for what you are doing to help others just like you right now by lifting their spirits. Each time I listen to you I feel as if I am two feet off the ground. I know God has put you in my life for me to develope a postive life system of thinking. I have since I ordered both books, cut out people because they were so negitive. I have felt so much stronger staying away and now developing new contacts who are positve for me to grow up in, better than I have been in the past. I started last week also a fast from negitive thinking all together. It's not easy, but it is good for me, so Thank You from the bottom of my heart...Keep blessing and helping us to grow up no matter what age. I think God has a tear in His eye because He is so proud of you. I can feel it because I am proud of you too
