So, did you take Dean up on his "news" diet
challenge from last week? If so, how'd you do?
Was it tough for you or no big deal?
We want to hear from you, so post your experiences
below. But before you do, watch this week's video
to see what causes Dean to get all "goosebumpy"
after he reveals part two of the challenge.
I think you're gonna like it.
negativity challenge
Hey Dean,
Another great challenge. I have already accomplished the first challenge, by not watching the news. The second one will be a little more challenging, because I am surrounded by negative people. I will focus my efforts on what I am grateful of every day. My children, my wife and my health. Dean, thanks again for your motivation.
Steve
Negative diet
Dean, this week's blog is perfect timing as I am going through a very negative period in my life. I am on the brink of divorcing my husband and my economic security is in tatters but I am realizing that most of the problem is stemming from all the nagativity in my life. Just this morning I went to my weekly women's support group and we talked about empowering ourselves and surrounding ourselves with positive energy. I am at the point in my life where I feel suffocated by negatives and I have to break loose or die. I have always been a glass is half full kind of person and too many people (my husband especially) are the glass is half empty types. Thanks for the encouragement to walk away from them and not listen, I am looking for happiness not depression! I went from hopelessness in a bottle eleven years ago to being grateful for my life today and I am glad you and the DG family are part of my present and future. Life really is good if we keep it positive and believe in ourselves and others.
I love this website! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Jacky.
What news?
Hey Dean, Thanks for another great blog. After spending the majority of 2010 helping a family member diagnosed with ALS and witnessing their daily struggle, I have so much to be grateful for and appreciate. Our loved one gave up on September 29th after this terrible disease robbed of her all physical movement.
I am extremely grateful for my health as well as my husband's and child's. While the situation demanded I put my personal goals on hold for most of the year, I have tried to stay plugged in to dg.com and remain positive that my time will come.
It's a challenge to avoid negativity - especially when circumstances beyond your control introduce unhappiness into your life.
Keeping positive and moving on!
challenge
Keep up with the challenges! They are great reminders!
Meeting the challenge
I have actually stopped watching the news and trying to avoid the negative people in my life for quite some time now. It has changed my life. Now I am not saying I am perfect because there are days sometimes that seem to be bad but I try now to see something positive.
I get up in the morning and thank God for what I have and for all my friends and family. I look for the things in my life that are positive.
If more people would stop listening to the news and all the negativity maybe this world would not be in the crisis it is in now.
I came from a very negative family. It took me a long time to realize that and to change how I looked at things. So I do know if I can do it anyone can. It has changed my life in many ways.
I lost my job in January and low and behold we started a business. It is doing better than we ever thought. Now if I can just get my husband to look at real estate. I will keep praying.
To you Dean thanks so much for all the positive things you do. I will get my first deal and proof it can be done so that my husband and boys will see that what I say is true.
NO NEWS is GOOD NEWS
Hi Dean,
I want to thank you for suggesting going on the "news diet". It was very refreshing to not hear about all of the negative things that were going on around me. It's not like sticking your head in the sand. It is more like clearing your head so you can be more present with the important things in your life.
I look forward to taking the next challenge of avoiding negative people. This will be much harder because my husband is EXTREMELY negative about everything. To him there is no such thing as a cup half full. When he starts up, I will remember what you said about thinking of all of the positive things in my life, and I have plenty of those. So again thank you so much for having a positive attitude we can emulate.
Looking to a positive future,
Lisa
To Dean
Thank you for sharing the many wonderful thoughts from your heart. Keeping positive can be quite a challenge when you are struggling with just about every area of your life but it is possible. The news diet was a great idea. I also want to thank your family, especially your wife, who shares you with all of us. Please tell her thank you for me and my husband.
Peggy
challenge
Gee, something you take for granted, then all of a sudden, you stop. You notice how much time you really spent listening and watching or reading the news. I'm working on the second part of the challenge. At least, more than I used to.
Thanks to everyone, and Dean for the positive, and
informative comments and suggestions.
Thanks for keeping us positive
I cut most the news out of my life more than 20 years ago. The only news I've caught in the last 2 weeks was the last miner in Chile being rescued...and I forgive myself that, since it was good news.
I watched your Video Blog again, and it still makes sense
Thanks for sharing Dean, and I look forward to more of your innovative challenges.
Also, may I leave our readers with this valuble truth:
Proverbs 15:2 - The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
Paraphrased Translation:
Proverbs 15:2 - The conversation of "intelligent people" uses knowledge {"words" } correctly: but the mouth of fools {negative people} poureth out foolishness.
Let us continue to live and learn, how to be more and more positive in all that we do.......
PUBLISH, PROMOTE and PRACTICE Justice and Truth at home, at work and at play! That's the POSITIVE Way, that's the RIGHT Way.
BLESSINGS to those who do!
Yes Yes
This is sooo great! I woke up and my child has turned 18 years old and that is awesome, because I have been a single mom since she was 3years old and it was not an easy 16 years but we made it. What a blessing. I am very thankful. Yea!!!! Now I just need to sell a house and we will be really set.
Thank you
Hi everyone who posted, thank you all for sharing, what a blessing you all are, I am so thankful for my DG family and to you Dean, as I say words can't describe, and nothing can replace this. Thank you for all you do, you are an inspiration. God bless!
You had great insight in creating this website.
Challange
Dean I practice that as much as I can. I can't change the world but I can change how I live it. So thanks for noticing that I haven't been on and I promise I will try harder to leave some kind of feedback for someone else to use.

News Challenge
How can I lie about going on a news diet?
I did not go on a news diet as some of you probably had. My reason is I have been subscribing to Investors Business Daily since last November so its important for me to know what is going on in stocks before I can invest in them. The stock market broke out on September 1st. Would it be a good idea for me or anyone else to just shun the market? No.
In the week, I did hear negative comments from one of my brothers that I cannot find a foreclosure for 30% off in the San Francisco - Silicon Valley Area that buyers would buy in unless the home were in a bad neighborhood like Oakland where crime is rampant.
news challenge
The news challenge has been easy due to everyday life and absorbing real estate. The negative challenge sounds like a great way to keep the thought moving in a better direction. I can do it.
Blog # 98
Dean,
You always come up with something to keep us going, I try to stay away from negative people, and the ney sayers, even in my family, I notice you keep us thinking postive in order for your students to grow. Thank you for helping us all.
Aloha Again,
Hi Dean, I remember as a child my parents always told me " If you Haven't anything good to say, Don't say anything." It's one of those things that we kind of go through one ear and out the other but as we mature and realize that garbage in , garbage out. It really does matter what we put into ourselves. So much get's stored into our subconscious mind and we react to those little things through our conscious mind and attitudes. I myself am not a Godly Man but have found that a prayer several times a day actually is a positive message to the subconscious which is reflected in our attitudes and actions. Very much like your Vid. Blogs which always are up beat and about being the best you can be regardless of the amount of riches or level of success that we tend to perceive in our minds reflection. Please keep the ball rolling as we challenge ourselves to remain in the zone.
Your Friend and student,
That's the right idea!
No problem doing it. I think I saw something about this on "The Secret". If that is where you are going with this? Thanks Dean for helping me break threw my barrier.
Dean Im on board
Dean I think its great, what you are trying to get people to realize. To be positive, and you will get positive results, to get any negetivity out of your life, and you will see your life will get better. Im on track and doing my news diet this week.
Weekly video blog #98 (2nd part challenge)
Hello Dean, I totally agree with what you say, many people underestimate the power of thinking without knowing that that's the most important ingredient to make things and have our goals accomplished.
About a week ago I showed your blog to a friend of mine, he asked me to send him your website link.
Thank you
Giovanni
Dean
Dean,
This is some good advice to listen to and keep yourself on track to reach your goal what ever it may be.
Thank You,

Meeting the challenge
Hey Dean,
This was a good challenge because I'm surrounded by a lot of negativity at my job and on the news, but I defeated that with not looking at tv at all, and doing my best to stay away from talking about any negative convo, and I that you for this next challenge because with the power of God I will get past all the negative things this week and get my real estate biz going.
Thanks you again,
Steven Robinson
challenge
Yes I tried to avoid the news in all areas tv, radio, ect. and it lasted a day maybe 2itis really hard to avoid it , your bombbarded with it from all angles, I work for the Dept. of Military Affairs at this time and it is hard to avoid hearing about it or seeing it in some of the offices I have to go into, hoping to change things with your book and e-mails and continued support. I'm hoping to make things happen this in the comming months, and year.
No Negativity
I love Ann Murry's song, Alittle Good News Today.
I'm a guy who is not big on watching the BAD NEWS. People get into that negative rutt and it becomes so familiar it becomes comfortable. I work 7 days aweek with every third week end off. At work I ask people-How you doing?-they respond, I,m doing or hows it going, response, it's going. I respond with, one of these days I,m going to ask someone how they're doing and they'll say, "IT' THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!"
That is the way I respond most everytime. It's one of my missions to lift people up. By doing so it helps to keep me on a positive path. GOD BLESS
Video Blog #98
Just viewed the blog today as I lost internet service until replacement parts came in. I guess I followed Dean's request fairly close. HAHA

The 2nd Part of the Challenge
No News, No problem! The 2nd Part of the Challenge is a little more difficult to beat!
When the negativity and naysayers are among your family and co-workers, it's hard to avoid it. My attempts are rather to adjust how I remove myself from the situation without being rude.I can't control their negative remarks, but I can control my response to the negative tone. One negative person can really rain on your parade. Marching forward..........
New (Renewed self) Challenge
Dean,
Thanks again for the new challenge. I will do it to help improve my outlook in life. I amazed myself when I remembered to think of grateful things in my life. Listening to your blog and writing it down here reinforced the challenge within me. I look forward to the week. Thanks Dean.
getting into the habit
i don.t have nothing special to say except i have decided to build up a habit of blogging the d.g family daily and start taking massive amounts of action sunday was 10-10-10.This signifies new begining bibically. I have gone through the last five months grieving my buisness worrying about the future, and the most parilyzing aspect the fear, of failure, success.the one blog dean did was biting off the peice of frog first thing every morning which bbrings in confidence and gives you, thestrength to move on
I Didn't Do It ... Death in my Family
There was a death in my family and I had to listen to relatives cry about the death and I have to go to the funeral. So much for not participating in negative conversations. Also, I've been watching the news because I care about the Nov 2nd Mid Term Elections. But I was watching my Set For Life Webinars all throughout the last 2 weeks of this challenge and I made some progress.
