Speaking and feeling happy can be hit and miss. One day you’re up, the next you’re down. But what if your focus is down more than up? What if you are more negative than you’d like – what if you are being overcome by it?
Get Dean's New Book "30 DAYS TO REAL ESTATE CASH" Right Now
Don’t suppose it’s purely a bad habit — negative or stressful life events have a tendency to stay with everyone longer than happy ones. It’s normal to spend time working through some events, when something went wrong, to learn from it. However, if negative thoughts are casting a shadow over a big part (or all of) your life, there are skills you can learn to stop them in their tracks.
One is to verbally and mentally take control of them - countering them. If you think ‘I’m worthless’ then say out loud ‘I am valuable and unique’…remember a situation where you felt valued, assured and calm. Bring that feeling to the front of your mind. There are quite a few other techniques, but today's Weekly Wisdom shares something else you can do to find a sense of joy and it works like a magnet in a bucket of nails…
NBAY-COM, Listen again....
Banks closing, war, unemployment, wall street exposed, all of this took years to create under the Bush Republican erra and only a fool or a republican would sit back and try to blame the current administration.
Dude, I think you missed the message. Listen to it again. The positive to your comment is that we have the liberties to voice such a statement without being censored. What a great country we live in! It may be going through some tough times but on a positive note, tough times are when most fortunes are made by those who know how to help.
You may want to issue an apology after you've re- listened to the message. That would truly be a positive step.
To better days...

WOW! You personify this post Dean just made - talk about negativity! Dean WAS NOT saying the President is bad (or good) but commenting that what people think is what their reality becomes. Your own reality seems pretty negative in this comment you posted. You should listen to Dean's post again - he is encouraging good and positive thoughts about everything we do and have, because that is how to HAVE a wonderful life.
If you don't appreciate Dean's posts perhaps it would be better to spend your time elsewhere.
Dean - this is one of your best posts! I personally have very little time for a lot of the stuff that comes into my Inbox, but I always make time for your videos.
Thanks so much!
Thank you
Thank you for your weekly wisdom. I needed that. Things are just not connecting for me right now. I switch from real estate to internet business. That's don't seems to be working either. I haven't given up. Just got to get my head straightend out.
Thanks
I LOVE YOU,DEAN
ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE,ELIMINATE THE NEGATIVE.
TAKE THE HIGH ROAD.BE A BETTER PERSON.THE GOLDEN RULE-DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU.TREAT OTHERS WITH DIGNITY & RESPECT.
THESE ARE JUST A FEW THINGS MY MOM PLANTED IN MY HEAD WHEN I WAS NOT AS POSITIVE.MY MOM HAS BATTLED CANCER 3 TIMES,LOST BOTH BREASTS,HAD BONE CANCER.IN 2006 DOCTORS SAID SHE HAD 2 YEARS TO LIVE.HERE WE ARE IN 2011.IT IS BY THE GRACE OF GOD,HER STRONG FAITH,AND POSITIVE MINDSET I AM STILL BLESSED WITH HERE PRESENCE IN THE NATURAL.LONG STORY SHORT(OR MAYBE NOT),YOUR PERCEPTION IS YOUR REALITY.WHAT YOU THINK & SPEAK,YOU BECOME.I AM ALSO A BIG JOEL OSTEEN FAN,GET HIS MESSAGES DAILY,HAVE SOME OF HIS BOOKS.I DID NOT SAY ALL THESE THINGS FOR PITY FOR MYSELF OR MY MOM,JUST THAT LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE NEGATIVE.
I LOVE YOU ALL.THANKS DEAN
GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY.

Too Positive?
I've listened to your blogs for a long time and many weeks it is your positivity that gets us through a week and gives us that shot in the arm. I'm one of your students that are 'ok'. Actually, I have been accused of being too positive. That's a red flag to me to zero in on that person, because they are the ones that need a little special attention and love for whatever they are going through. When you practice positivity it becomes such a part of you , that when something goes wrong, you immeditely flip the negative to a positive. It's great to have that as a natural part of your life. If everyone could make that a regular part of their day, this would be a better world. Until then, each of us just need to be aware of the people around us and bring them 'up' instead of letting them drag us down. Here's to a positive week and see how many people we can influence this week and each day thereafter. Thanks for being you, Dean, and thanks for the weekly reminders.
Women see things differently
Great Day!!!
The wife and I were watching your blog this morning, and after it finished she made a comment: “you know that when Dean’s hair starts to turn gray, he will look very distinguished”. Now you know gray is ok. Have a Blessed day.
God bless
Nathan & Sandy
everybody has stress
Thanks, Dean ! I love hearing your blog every week. It really hit me that one persons stress is NOT greater than anothers - just different reasons for it. We DO need to reach out and help others on a regular basis. We ALWAYS end up getting back more than we give. Thanks so much for helping to keep a positive spin on everything ! It's way too easy to get "down" on life. Thanks once again for the GREAT 2 days in AZ last month. (can't believe it has been that long) I am anxiously watching for my copy of "Totally Fullfilled" to hit my mailbox.

its easy to be negative...
yes it is Dean. Over the years of be a DG'er, your positivity on life has actually sunk into my thick head. I was in a car accident Friday morning on the way into work. Lady rear ended me, I was stopped a t a red light. She ran smack center into me, didn't even attempt to stop. Now, back in the day, I'd of got out of the car yelling cursing, the whole nine. But now, I got out spoke to her calmly, and said hey, it was an accident we are both ok, so no big deal. I have been hugely inconvenienced by this, what with dealing with hers and mine insurance companies, dealing with having to get the car fixed, dealing with my sore neck and back. But at the end of the day, I am ok with it.
So I guess what I am saying is ...thanks, I think I am a more positive person than I used to be.
Short and sweet comment...
Excellent message as always! Thank you for the constant encouragement!
Thanks for the Words of Wisdom
Hi Dean:
Thanks for those words of wisdom. You hit the nail right on the head. "The power of life and death is in the tongue."
Also, as an African American, there was absolutely nothing derogatory or racist about the comments you made in your blog.
Keep sending us your weekly blogs, I really appreciate them.
God Bless,
Practice being positive
I feel I am positive a lot of the time, but staying positive takes practice I think. When I slip out of that space it helps to remember that I don't have to stay stuck there. I really can shift back.
When I am in the shower, or brushing my teeth, driving, etc...whenever I think of it.... I try to think of 5 things in my life that are going good, or what makes me laugh. I focus on how I would like things to look in a month, a year, 5 years. And remember that I really can make it happen if I put my mind to it and stay positive. Dean and his mentors are perfect examples of that.
I could not agree more that paying it forward, and giving back is a great way to feel good and stay positive. We need to surround ourselves with positive energy and people too. Dean's weekly wisdom always leaves me in such a positive space. Thanks Dean. Julie.
You really hit the nail on the head
Yes for too many years, my family has been NEGATIVE on everything I did or wanted to do ie: "that is stupid, why do you want to do that" or recently they say "you will do it our way or else." My siblings and myself are all in our 50's so this should not be happening...I have decided to not live in such a negative environment and told them I need to live MY own life and live it in peace.
Dean you are right-I do go and help at the homeless home for men and I take them donuts and lunch meats (something my sisters say "why are you wasting your money on these people")... Same with Real Estate ventures. I'm just starting out because for years I listened to them and lost on great deals. So life needs to be positive and I need to be around positive people! thank you for sharing with all of us the power of love and being positive in thinking and in living!

negetivity
Dean you are so right, I started following Anthony Robbins same time as Pamela Anderson! When my brother was mugged and on life supports, all I heard was negativity from doctors and even family. There is actually a comment in his medical report from the nursing staff that sister is not facing realty. Evan the insurance companies were negative and would not pay for any service that might help mark saying there was no hope! So I took him home feeding tube and diapers together we designed our own therapy and today after 18 year the insurance companies want to pay for therapy. Mark walks, (they said he never would) Is completely able get around maybe a little different then you or I, still today people ask me what happened and they react with such sadness and I tell them don’t be sad think of all the things Mark can do! I never thought he would not make it. I kept his recovery in my mind at all times.
You can’t let other people design your future it is all inside of you, you just have to believe it.

being positive
I also struggle at times with being positive. Remembering that things are a lot better than they could be. This Wednesday I have a date in court.
Being constantly negative is one of the reasons why my husband and I are divorcing.
Progress/Negativity
Negativity is easy to come around if things are not working the way you thought they would work. If your a happy person and love life it is easy to block out negativity because your always thinking positive but at the same time if your not making progress and getting results that N thing tries to get the best of you.Regardless of what roadblocks pop up I stay positive and try to make progress and say there is someone out there that is worst off than I am.
Blessings!
Dean.. In 2001, I nearly lost both of my daughters. I placed my then 14 year old daughter in a tough love program for anexoria and depression. It broke my heart but knowing that it might save her life gave me the courage to do it. 6 months later, I nearly lost my 11 year old daughter to Type 1 Diabetes. She tripped the glucose scale at 998 and went into renal failure. Thank God and her doctors, she recovered and did well.
A few months later she wanted to become a twirler with a dance twirl team and soon got into individual competition. Attending the competitions, I watched as parents pulled and tugged on their daughters, complained about ther posture or their attitude or their hair and on and on. I looked at my daughter on the competition floor and cried. Cried with joy knowing that she was there! She was alive and smiling and doing something incredible. My heart swelled for her and broke for both the other girls and their parents.
Both of my daughters were returned to me. They are perfect and alive and thriving and when I start to feel really negative, I remember the day each of them nearly left my life permanently. My gratitude overwhelms and humbles me and I realize just how blessed I truly am!

Negativity
Wow this is uncanny, just last week I was watching a video lecture by Michael Berg and I'd like to quote him here:
"If we see darkness, then darkness exists. We don't have to live within the confines of our problems, because if we do, then we make it so, at least for us. If you fall into the consciousness of darkness, you close yourself off from ALL blessings that are meant to come to you".
Thanks for posting this video, I'm really glad I watched it. Great way to tackle a Monday!
being postistive
i know what it is like to be down on my luck. i am hiv positive and i have hep c. i also have celbal palsy, i work part time. i live in a mobile home. the paint is falling off and the front door is cracked. the back porch is rotten and has fallen down. but i keep going because i know people care and love me

NBAY.COM's comment
I am one of those "republicans" that you spoke of. Yes, President Obama did indeed inherit an aweful economic situtation from the previous administation. As many safeguards as there were in place before the economic meltdown did not forewarn anyone of the events that were about to occur.
That being said, Senator Obama ran on a campaign promise to get the United States out of it's economic morass "once he was in office." It has been three years and he is no closer to fulfilling his promise than he was as a prospective presidential candidate. The reason that the republician let house is blocking Pres. Obama's legislative inititatives, is because he is not proposing a way to pay for them. Fine re-distribute the national treasury, but eventually someone has to replenish those revenues. He and the democrates are spending "our" tax dollars hoping that the average consumer is going to in turn freely spend it in the market and fuel a new economic growth spurt. If that were the case, the Quantitative Easing programs I & II preformed by the Federal Reserve Bank would have worked. It did slow the rate of decline down, but it has not stopped it.
What works is investors investing. A small mom & pop grocery store to the big auto manufacturers builting a new parts plant in a rual town. Big government is not big business. If the body of laws comming out of Washington, D.C. inhibit banks from lending, people from borrowing, and investors from investing there will be no uptick in the economy.
I appreciate your passion, however misplaced it maybe. But, this is a site for investors and speculators in economic markets-real estate, mortgages, deeds, etc. Your wasting your time and energy here trying to sell the democratic agenda here.
As for the republician party being full of racist, you need to look up the "Dixiecrats" on Wikipedia. Good luck, and may God Bless you.
My thought’s on negativity
Hi Dean
Just because we have negative thoughts doesn’t mean we should project them on to others For that is what will be projected on to us. Sure there is negativity all around us, But it’s how we let It control us is the point.
Thank you,
NO MORE!!!!
Great message Dean,as always I'm rushing to hear your video, rush to take shower,go to my place of business work all day and come back home to hear the Message again. Thanks a lot Dean you open my eyes and mind.Keep up the good work!!!!!!
@ nbay-com
Dean didn't say the president is bad, his NEGATIVE friends did.. Looks like your NEGATIVE politics have taken over your life and you are looking for the negative in everything around you too..Take a deep breath and watch it again, but this time listen for the message..Not what you think you were hearing..I am a dem to but the negative thinking will only get you more negative results in your personal life. Don't be so ready to jump on someone that is just expressing a thought..Plus, this Dean guy is one of the nicest people you will ever meet..He is friends with Bill Clinton for God's sake..
Negativity
Negativity is draining on your health.
I focus on prayer to get me through.
We are really struggling financially right now and I should go to work today but I am going to take a friend for a Cat Scan that recently had a stroke.
I pray that it will lift her spirits by having me with her.
And on the 24th of Nov. I am going to cook in a soup kitchen called the Mustard Seed for the homeless.
Have an awesome day everyone.
Marie
3/4 Full and my Hands are open
Dean: Thank you. Making the effort. Sometimes it's easier to go down that negative path! with just a little effort, you can find the positive.
Before I go to bed each night I say a little pray and one part of that prayer is to say to God" God Thank you for all you give me" I don't want him to think I take anything for granted.
Open you hands: I live in a modest home w/my two dogs. I don't have alot, I might only give $10.oo tith on Sunday, or I may give of my time to someone who needs it. God says, when you open your hands, he opens his.
I appreciate your words of wisdom, many times, we/I need a reminder
