Weekly Wisdom #261 - Making an Impact

A few months ago we did a promotion for the “Abundance” book. Here’s an update on what you helped to do for the tornado victims. You’ll also hear how making an impact in the lives of others is often easier than you think – and does wonders for your own sense of worth too.

the weekly wisdom, Dean. That is so cool that you took your kids and handed out $100 bills to the homeless people in Phoenix last Christmas...I'm sure that made their day! And what a valuable lesson to teach your kids! Smiling

Have a great week!

Hi Dean,

Another great weekly wisdom......Thank You for sharing.....

It always makes a person better to lend a helping hand....to someone who really needs it, and appreciates it.....

It's better to give than to receive....

A real life lesson you taught your children last Christmas....Kudos to you Dean....

Regards,
Sharon

Dean,

it is so nice how you keep helping us not only be great investors, but also be good people all around!
I've always tried to help people who are less fortunate than myself; and you are right, when we help someone, and we put a smile on their face, it makes us feel all warm inside.

It is also nice to see the two families that we all helped by buying the Abundance book; thank you for doing that Dean and can't imagine anyone else better suited to represent you there than Chad; you both are such amazing people, and I feel fortunate for having met both of you!
Valerie

really great

I would have loved to have been with chad helping with that. If I could have seen with all the tears in my eyes. There is nothing better than the gift of touching someone in that way and to know that they will do the same down the road!!! Great work there and with your kids as well...Keith

Excellent!

You are the best Dean.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Enter, you who are blessed by my Father! Take what’s coming to you in this kingdom. It’s been ready for you since the world’s foundation. And here’s why:

I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.’

“Then those ‘sheep’ are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’

You are doing the Lord's work. I'm delighted Chad is working more with you! Be blessed as you bless my friend.

"Making an Impact"

Wow!!! What a way to go Dean, Chad, and the dg family (us). This is my very first post and I am so moved by this weekly wisdom!!! It really did put a big smile on my face. Talk about teamwork! I must say that all who have posted their comments so far are so on it and steinway024, I couldn't have said it better! Dean, I want to thank you for your diligence in reaching out to the world. I, personally, am grateful that you don't mind going after the 1 Eye-wink As you know, I am posting for the first time because you didn't give up on me. Yes, I've been very occupied with many things, and am currently in school. I decided to go back after many years. I want you to know that though I juggle many things, I couldn't resist posting today! The King of kings and Lord of Lords said: "I am come that you may have life and have it more abundantly". Every area of our lives matter (spiritual, mental, physical, financial, emotional, social connections, family, health). Have a great week,

Thank you for updating us on the Abundance book donations. I'm happy to see that Chad was involved and found some amazing families to help! It feels good to know that we are a small part of making moving forward in life a little easier for some families that lost so much.

Make it a great week!

Dear Dean, very good stuff. I guess this is the true meaning of paying it forward. This has to come back to anyone who is kind and generous to do so. Thanks for the reminder to all.

Thank you Dean

Dean,
Some may say that you are spoiling your kids, I disagree with that. I think you are teaching your kids what every parent should have been teaching for years now. And that is to reach out and help, not simply think of thy self as most people do today.
Bless You for not only doing but sharing as well.

Scott

Wonderful!

What an amazing WW! This week so touched my heart, as it did all those recipients of the help that was shared.

One point I must respectfully disagree with though. When talking about giving out the $100 bills, you said, "It didn't make a big difference in their lives..." There are times in our lives where $100 is actually not that much, but there are OTHER times (and if you are homeless, this is DEFINITELY one of those OTHER times) $100 is HUMONGOUS!!! It could have literally meant life to many of those people.

As a single mother for a very long time, my life tended to be a financial roller coaster. There have been times when I have had plenty of money, even traveling to Europe four different times for five wks or so at a time, and other times where I practically had to move in the middle of the night. Seriously!

I will never in my whole life forget one Easter when my girls and i were REALLY struggling. My niece handed me an Easter card as we were leaving Easter dinner at their house and with a wave said, "Open it later."

Of, course this piqued our curiosity and as soon as we pulled around the corner, we stopped and opened it. There was a check for $300 inside! I have NO idea how she could have known how badly we needed that money and we literally sat there for five minutes bawling!

The point of all this story is that $100 to people living on the streets is not in any way small!

God has blessed you, Dean. I know that you know that and that is why you give back so much. I am thankful every single day that you came into my life. You have not "touched" my life. You have flat out "clobbered" it!!! I would have never dreamed I would be doing the deals that I am doing and living my life that I am living now, doing RE deals over and over making anywhere from $10K-$30k at a time!

You are a blessing to all of us and to those beautiful kids that you were blessed with.

Thank you and keep being you!

Karen

Tears To My Eyes

Thank you Dean for a wonderful weekly wisdom. I loved the story about your Christmas morning drive. Those small acts of kindness absolutely make a difference. I am a giver myself and I love to do it but I have been neglectful of myself. I have not been on the site too much lately and I have missed the positive vibes, encouragement and messages that are here. I have not done my first deal yet simply because I have not truly put enough time into it. I have just reorganized my day to push me pass the blocks that have held me back and I'm hopeful that this will make the difference. Your tools, encouragement, books, tips and everything really are wonderful and I am thankful that you have shared so much. Many blessing to you and your family.

Dean, you are a good person!

Gena's post said it all. I know through personal experience that when you give back and give the credit to the Lord he will bless your business. After all, everything we have is HIS, it is up to us to manage it properly.

Thanks Dean!

Hi Dean,
Thanks for sharing this awesome experience with your children. This will forever be in the back of their minds so that when they run into this situation again, they will know how to respond with an open mind and heart.
As far as my secret. It is volunteering. If I could do nothing but volunteer forever, and not ever have to go to a JOB, I would be so elated and stoked. There are no words to describe the feeling I have when I offer to help someone and they accept. It is an overwhelming experience each and every time.
God Bless and take care.

Abundance & Giving

Dean, it is wonderful that you are teaching your kids that it good to think of and help others and not expect anything in return. The memories of doing something special with dad will stick with them forever and the $100 bills may not make a big difference in your life, but for the homeless it could be "priceless". Thank you for sharing and allowing us to share in the giving!

Abundance

Thanks for the update on the abundance donations and thank you for allowing others to be a part of what you do.

Beautiful

Lisa R's picture

Thank you once again for sharing these stories. We all have something to give and it doesn't always have to be money. Giving and sharing truly makes us rich.

We receive so much more than we ever give in a simple act of kindness. It really also helps us realize that no matter how dire our circumstances are there is always somebody who is worse off.

I have told my children that we all have won the birth lottery by being born into a first world country and the things we take for granted here are unimaginable for most people born in third world countries.

When my kids were younger I used to take them to the soup kitchen and we would help serve the homeless. We also used to spend two Sunday afternoons a month at retirement and senior's homes. Sometimes we would play cards or checkers but mostly we would just talk with the seniors who had no visitors.

When I first took them they were not as a receptive but after a few visits they would actually ask me if it was time to go.

These lessons might have been learned in other ways but I always wanted them to know that no matter what there is always something we can do to help out our fellow man.

This is also one of the main reasons I come to this site. You always say to surround yourself with like-minded people and I couldn't agree more.

Not only are you great to be around but the DG family here is amazing. I can't thank you all enough for simply being kind, caring people who make it a pleasure to visit this site.

Thanks again.

All blessings to you all!
warmest regards,
Lisa Richardson

Dean what a wonderful thing

Dean what a wonderful thing you did.I wish i could afford to do something like that. All i can ever afford to do is give people my time, wisdom and skills if they need my help!

You are 100% Correct

BrianNorris01's picture

I too believe I can make a difference, enough by uplifting people with kind and hopeful words of encouragement. Thank you Dean I will be a bucket filler and not a bucket dipper. Giver not a taker.

The Season of Giving

Thanks for the message and for reminding us all to remember what this season is all about. To count our blessings and to give to others when we can. Blessings to all this Thanksgiving! Smiling
