Dean Graziosi Weekly Wisdom #171 - Lurking Lies and Frustrating Fibs?

No matter how honest we are outwardly, there are times when we can fib to ourselves. Sometimes we do it on purpose. It makes us feel better for the moment. It’s not always intentional though. Sometimes we fib to ourselves out of confusion or because we misunderstand the facts. These destructive little internal "untruths" – be they intentional or not – are like thieves that rob us. Find out how ridding yourself of these lurking lies will make all the difference in your success… in not only real estate - but life!

Dean,we all need to take

Dean,we all need to take stock in what we do evertime we look in the mirror. As far the system just keep your eye on the price. When I sold food door to door I would get doors slammed in my face I would always leave with a smile and say to myself o well so sad to bad who's next. You never know when the next door will open.
Thanks for all you do

This is GREAT! This is

Cocoon's picture

This is GREAT! This is something that reiterates what YOU teach! I've been working HARD at this and I don't lie about it, especially to myself! So that's a good start! Smiling

Your video blog helped me re-think this: Thus far, with the 25:1 strategy, as my schedule permitted, I have spoken to 28 agents since end of January. (Yes, I kept count! Smiling). It has been a mental beat down. I can't even get to the 25:1 because I can't even get any of these RE agents to send me what I was requesting for (List of Cash Sales for the past 60 days in a specific ZIP code). I ended up being on several agents "buyers list" instead and they inundate me with their listings!).

It ended up making me feel like the search for the perfect New Investor friendly RE agent has been a stumbling block that was why I thought I would try out your other strategies (like Join an REI Club) just so I could "keep positive". And I am staying positive.

The fibbing? Well, I got very discouraged with the RE Agents so I stopped looking last week. I thought "I'm stopping temporarily". YOU ARE RIGHT. I should not stop finding that RIGHT RE Agent! So I think what I will do this week is - for the "positive part" learn as much as I can from my REI club and fellow local investors, carve out a chunk of time specific to calling agents all over again. (That way, it would be balanced out - positive and negative! Who knows I might get lucky and find that agent! But I definitely won't find an RE agent if I stopped! Smiling). Thank you Dean for this wake up video blog! I should not stop including the search for an RE agent into my "REI related" schedule! Thank you! I do appreciate all that you do for us here! Looking forward to meeting you at the Edge 2012!

Take care of yourself and God bless you and your family always!

Your right Dean

We need to stop lying to our selves if we are going to make our dreams become realty.

Thank you Dean

Thank you, Dean!

Thank you, Dean for another inspirational message. I appreciate the time you take out of your busy week to share words of wisdom with us. It's so nice to know that someone is in our corner cheering us on to success.

SO, a question...

How do we over come the fear, from which many of those lies can spring?

"The right agent" seems to be unrealistic..

Detroit_Bad_Boy's picture

Hi Dean!
I have always known that a person must start out small and go from there.
To reiterate Cocoons response, I am being flooded with a 'pat on the head' and a buyers list from several agents or no response whatsoever.
Until I become solvent enough to actually live up to my word of buying properties (as a last result in the case of no buyers being found)I am going to employ other strategies in your books in an attempt to reach my desired goal.
I have found that the market in my area is good for both buying and selling. I feel I need to re-double my efforts to find bona-fide buyers through other avenues.
Above all (even tho I keep stock in Excedrin)I am NOT giving up!!!

Looking at Self.

Hi Dean,
Your right in looking at yourself with the problems in life. You have to overcome getting past yourself in order to make anything work. I look forward to the blogs and it's a great start for the week.

25:1 conference call..??

Does anybody know which conference call the 25:1 with Matt Larson is??

I wonder . . .

What you covered here in the Blog today isn't 'new' to me, but it raises the question:
How many times have I let this happen without being aware I was doing it?

Thanks for refreshing me again, Dean!

Increased awareness will help me prevent it from sneaking up on me again.

Looks like Spring is here -time to hit it hard!!!

Fear of Failure

PRYME Home Buyers's picture

Fear of failure is the reason we make up excuses why something is not working. So if we blame someone or something else for something not working then we didn't didn't fail they or that did. To me failure is always a learning experience, this doesn't mean I like failing but I don't run away from it either.

Very inspiring as always Dean!!

WOW, you just pinned my ears to the wall

PaulYoung4ever's picture

You are absolutely right. I've been waitng for somebody to hand succes to me on a silver platter. The truh is, I haven't taken the time to study your material enough to know how to do it. I need to put a priority on my time and simply learn your material. Thanks for pinning my ears to the wall. Now, time will tell if I am willing to give you the time necessary to succeed. The bottom line is, it's not your fault. I'm the one standing in the way of my success. I can get away with fibbing to myself, because I don't turn myself in. I need to make myself accountable to someone else that will call my hand.

Another great blog. I do know were a lot of people get into trouble on the 25-1 is they want to put bids in on homes that have just hit the market. IT is really hard for this to work. Who in their right mind is going to be movated on day one to reduce their price. So see guys this is not what he teaches. Can't wait to see next weeks. I bet he gets you on the right track.

The Man in the Mirror

Good reminder to look within yourself for the real problem. Following the plan "exactly" is the only way to discern if the plan really works. It does. It is truly understandable to excuse our own failures as long as we don't camp-out there. Thank you for the reminder to stick to the plan.

Transparency

tkosi949's picture

Hi Dean,
Thanks again for the wisdom. I know I have a lot to come clean on and you make it a lot easier to face the lies I tell myself By knowing that to grow we need to become transparent. I have work to do.
Thanks again,

Great Weekly Wisdom!!

It is hard to be honest with oneself and then call ourselves out. I will focus on this throughout the week. I have to allow myself to be uncomfortable! Thank You so much Dean for taking the time to do these videos. You speak to us personally and directly and I am forever grateful!

P.S. REALLYY looking forward to next weeks Weekly Wisdom focusing on the 25:1.

The Fibber within

JoshV's picture

Dean great blog this week, It's so easy to lie to yourself, and tell yourself the same lie so many times that you begin to believe it to be true. It's important to have a core group of mentors/friends to call us on our stuff. Respectful and honest friends who challenge can see through those lies.
With that said, "We must defeat the enemy within, because if we can, no enemy without can do us no harm."

Hi Dean, This is so true. I

Hi Dean,
This is so true. I am going to put 25 bandit signs this weekend. No excuses.
Thank you for your words.
You are awesome.

Much appreciation!

Wonderful Dean!

Many people go around pointing the finger and such. I always make sure to check myself first. I take responsibility for all I do and I stay positive!

Great Tip
