So glad that Brodie is ok! Wow, I bet that was scary for you & your wife. It's funny how one minute your child can be totally well and then so quickly things can change. Good weekly wisdom.

DEAN I AM SO HAPPY BRODY IS GETTING BETTER !!!!!!

Thanks for a great weekly wisdom !!!!!!!!!!!

Wish you well Brodie

Thanks for a good video and glad your son is better and home.

Thanks Dean

You are such an amazing Man. I love your positive energy each of your weekly wisdom brings to me. Your message "Dig the Well Before You Thirst" made a big impact in my life today . This website has always built up my momentum to strive more in investing in Real Estate which I love doing. I want to be the winner of the "Send Me Away" Contest" and I know I can do it. Even though I haven't closed on a deal yet, I can imagine myself being the winner of the "Send Me Away" Dean contest already.

Aww I'm glad your son is now feeling much better. I thank GOd! I know how it feels to be in that kind of situation especially when it a first time experience.
Like you said "It's now a blessing story now and no longer a tragic situation."

I love that quote "Always dig the well before we need the water"

I agree with you on that. I will be making use of that quote "digging the well before we need the water" and implement it in my real estate career in terms of doing the following

1)Build my tenant/buyers more effectively since I'm now focus on lease option and wholesaling other investors deals and not waiting to find a tenant buyer when I get the deals.
2)Finding the right property manager is place since I started investing in the entire South Florida, Southern California and Nevada.
3)Finding more A player agents to add to my team who are hungry to make more and have deals lined up for me.

Thanks again Dean and goodluck to everyone this week:)

So glad Brody is Ok

Poor little guy, it had to be so frightening for him too. I never heard of that kind of thing happening with asthma but then no one can know everything. Taking fast action to get help is key. When it is your own child that is going down it really rocks you at your very foundation and sends you into a tailspin. Whew!!! Panic mode. Boy Scout motto is be prepared. Having had 4 stepsons for a period of eight years, we had some Cub and Boy Scouts. I learned a lot working with them. First aid and emergency procedures are taught so that they know what to do. That would be good for your kiddos too - both boy and girl scouts.
With regard to REI the being prepared and digging the well before I need the water is the due diligence that I have been learning about. I gotta know what I am doing in order to be able to handle the deals I create and break thru the barriers. It is crunch time and six and a half months til I turn 66 which means I can make any amount of money with no penalty.
Thanks for being transparent and for being a good parent.

Been there dean

when i was younger i was playing and watching my twin step brothers. I remember pushing him to fast on a wheeled toy and it flipped. The plastic eye ball cut him open from his chin to his adams apple. I didn't know what to do to stop him from bleeding and crying. I could have died because I had no control of what was happening to him and me. Nine stitches later and the worst phone call to my mother later everyone was fine. I took red cross classes that summer and made sure it would never happen again. Because of those classes and my military training I saved two lives to date and I am happy to say made an impact on someones life.

Hi Dean,
Glad to hear Brody is OK. I use to have asthma but with the age and the help of a chiropractic technique it doesn't bother me anymore. I think it's wise to to get things in order like your talking about but we don't always think about it until it happens. Thanks for opening our eyes to things that could be a problem and being proactive instead of reactive.

Dean, I'm thankful to hear that your son's health situation is getting better. My prayers and thoughts are with you and I will DEFINITELY "dig the well" before hand. That way I can make sure that I am not caught off guard when something major happens. I will apply it to my professional life and my personal life. Thank you for being a blessing to us and giving us the tools we need in order to make our financial dreams a reality.

Digging the Well

I am so happy to hear Brody is on the mend. The first thing that came to mind at the start of your weekly wisdom was my Power Team. I was a single mother of three working 2-3 jobs at any given time. I had phone numbers in my purse for specialists for everything. Child care, plumbing, heating, school personnel, heathcare etc. So when I joined your Team, I already had many of my Power Team Members identified. Of course I had doubled my list with additional professionals that I had not previously needed, that will be able to assist me at the ready.
Thank you for validating my preparedness and motivating me to reach for the stars. I am getting close to my first deal and already working toward more. Your enthusiasm is absolutely contagious.
Thoughts and Prayers to you and your family.

Glad to here Brody is fine and doing better...

Dean,
Wow, thanks so much for sharing your life with us on here good and bad. You make this so much more then just a learning site, you make it personal, and that adds the kind of honesty that can not faked.
I have to admit even as of today I have been a slacker with a degree of fear as far as investing, but I know I am in the right place to learn all that is needed and able to get the help as I grow.
Thank you Dean for all that you do and for giving so many of us the tools we need to make our dream work/life.
Jimmy

PS. Brody is an awesome and strong male name, good job Smiling

Being prepared

Dean,

Thank you for sharing your personal story with us and for another great Weekly Wisdom. I'm so glad to hear that Brody is okay now. That must have been very scary.

You're right about always being prepared, just in case something happens, so you'll know what to do and where to go. It could make all the difference in an emergency. What's that saying? Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. That's good advise. Like the last time a tornado came through my area I had no idea where I should go in my town to be safe. I'll make a point to research that right now so I'll know where to go in the event of another tornado. I'll start looking for ways to be better prepared in every situation in my life and my business from now on.

Thank you Dean for sharing your story. We hope your son is doing well now. As you know Dean we deal in REI to take care of our family's. We don't deal in REI because we like pretty houses, there is a bigger reason and for most of us it is to leave something better for our family.

God bless you Dean and your family.

My first thought was his appendix burst, for i had that happened to me.. Was at work its a Monday morning went outside with my cart put the key in the mailbox and i felt a pop in my stomach didnt think much of it for i was drinking coffee at the time and than a couple hours later i was buying soda for i thought it was gas..and i needed to burp.. to make it better.. than its lunch time and went home to rest and the pain was so bad i asked my wife to call an ambulance, for was holding my stomach in pain.. i had an MRI and my appendix was ready to burst.. the Dr got a team together and i was on the operating table being wheeled in for surgery..

Its funny how we don't think of things like this until they happen and our experience paves the way.. im glad Brody is doing much better and now Dean your prepared for this by doing a little research.

Get well soon Brody!

All Blessings to you and to your family. I am so glad to hear your son is on the mend.

Being the mother of four children myself I can definitely relate to the panic and fear of not knowing what is happening or how to fix it.

As you pointed out being prepared ahead of unforeseen events is key, not only for getting the right help when needed but for giving one a sense of being more in control. When I am prepared for situations I am much more effective at not only administering what help is needed but feeling calmer myself and in turn being able to be supportive of those around me.

You and your family, especially your son are in my thoughts and prayers.

warmest regards,
Lisa Richardson

So glad Brody is better!

My youngest son has asthma and I know first hand how scary that can be! When he was little, I did just what you are talking about...I made sure I learned everything I could about asthma, the doctors, the hospital and the medication. I'm sure that my preparations saved my son's life on more than one occasion!

I think the analogy to real estate investing is a great idea and I'm sorry that I haven't thought to put it to work for me! I will do that now!! Thank you Dean for another great Weekly Wisdom!

Hopefully, your son will continue to feel better real soon. The stomach flu is a real bummer!
Thank you for the insight into why we wait and why we should take control. It really makes since.

Being prepared

So glad to hear that everything worked out well for your son. A lesson learned the hard way. Being prepared should also mean for yourself and your wife.. Have all info in a place that you both can get to. I am sure you have done your wills, etc so there will be no surprises if something should happen. As a military wife, I even had a plan of action if I should ever get that knock on my door when the children were still at home.

Wise Counsel

BrianNorris01's picture

I try to be prepared for the unexpected, but life certainly can throw a curve ball every once in a while. My wife and I lost our 2nd child (son) 7 days before his do date so the doctor was super cautious with our 3rd child (son). He ingested the abiotic fluid when he needed to breathe and he was immediately rushed to Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He spent 7 days in the ICU. My poor wife just gave birth and all of the stress she was going through, I couldn't even imagine. The Ronald McDonald House gave us a place to stay, what a blessing. I gave my son a blessing and had faith in God that all would be well. That little boy is now 6'5'' and 17 yrs old. For all uncertainty I work as if it all depends on me and pray as if it all depends upon God. Thanks again Dean, you did good.

Once my daughter, when she was young, got sick. I was lucky to have a friend get ice and fever reducer while I kept her cool until he returned. She appeared to have the one day measles. Still a real scare.

Glad that Brodie is okay!
