Weekly Wisdom #264 - Flip Your Fear Upside Down

Goal setting is great, but are you ignoring the important, often overlooked plateaus of success? By failing to reward yourself for the little things, you may secretly sabotage yourself. This video piggybacks on the previous Weekly Wisdom and encourages you to do a few simple, but important things like; patting yourself on the back sooner and celebrating little successes. Also, it’s worth exploring the times when you don’t TAKE ACTION to FIND OUT WHY. Last, but not least, Dean introduces the concept of flipping your fear. How to stop the fear that paralyzes find the fear that motivates you. There’s a lot to be thankful in this segment. Enjoy!

Ditto - right back at you!

I am very grateful for you and all that you are and all that you do. I am grateful to be able to spend time with you. What a blessing! Have a happy turkey day. I am treating myself to brunch at the Woodlake Inn on Thanksgiving Day. Aside from that I am working from home on REI and I am house and dog sitting for a client. Also I am always working on coming up with multiple streams of income. FEAR - fantastic to be afraid of what will happen if I don't do what I need to do vs being afraid to do something. I am on it and I love your message. Thank you Dean and I hope you had a Happy Birthday.

thank you Dean!

I am sooooo grateful for stumbling onto DG and this amazing site, and for all the incredible investors that I have met here, some who I'm honored to call my friends!

You put a smile on my face with this Weekly! It's easy to forget to give ourselves a pat on the back and treat ourselves to a reward when we accomplish our goals; this is something that I will make a note of.

Happy Thanksgiving Dean! Hugs!
Val

Thanks to you

I enjoy your messages every week but these past weeks have really hit home.

I fear blending into the crowd and being like everyone else.

Take action! Stand out!

It is Fear,

Mighty1 Real Estate's picture

that cripples most of us. I've never heard of someone not doing Real Estate because they were shy or because they were too tall or too short or because they thought they weren't good looking enough or even because they didn't have any money. In fact that's the reason most of us do it, because we're flat broke. We just think we are not knowledgeable enough to go talk to a RE agent or a private home seller and we think we're going to wind up putting our foot in our mouths and be laughed out of a conversation or negotiation. I've had to go through all the stages to get rid of my fear and am now making offers but it took the help of God and also of listening to your videos and joining the Success Academy and hanging in there long enough not to quit. I know I will make my first deal and I know how good I will feel when that happens. Thank you as always for never quitting yourself in the quest to motivate America and possibly the world in taking action and doing something with their lives. You've helped me and I know you've helped thousands of others as well. Maybe I can get some info about "boots on the ground". In the meantime I will say a prayer for you and your family this Thanksgiving because you are another reason I'm thankful. I'm still here and I haven't quit, glad I found you on late night t.v.
God bless you this season and always Dean.

Thankful for you Dean and your motivation

Fear of failling is what keeps me going

Ray28CT's picture

It's the fear of not accomplishing what I said, what I told my family and friends I was going to do is what keeps me going. I refuse to feel like a failure. Dean thanks for everything and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you Dean

I just realized what you are talking about last week. I came into some problems in my life and realized if I don't turn it around I will lose alot.I was like a light bulb went off. So I faced it and flipped my fear into fear that motivates me and I have actually accomplished more this past week than I have the last few months. If it is going to happen I need to make it happen. It won't just magically appear and all my problems be gone. It is up to me to make the change! Thanks so much for all your motivation. We wouldn't know what to do without you behind us supporting us.Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

Thank you Dean

Thanks Dean for another weekly wisdom.
Dean I thank you for all that you have educated me in REI and life.

God bless you and your family plus the DG family.

Fear as a motivator.

This has been my midset from the beginning!
My start in real estate came from watching a neighbor get forclosed on. I watched with morbid curiosity as it all unfolded. Then I realized that money could be made here by setting up a win win deal. Is strove after that to stop forclosures and save those I could. As more and more people lose their home, it is TERROR that drives me to work for my family. Every day I fear the worst and work towards the best. I dont want to be rich, I just refuse to be broke.

What a great Weekly Wisdom!

Dean,

Thanks Dean for these weekly motivation/how to videos. Being thankful is so important! One of the main themes of all success teachings is to be thankful and grateful. And I know you stress this a lot. How can we be really happy in our lives without being grateful?

Good point on FEAR. I have done 6 deals so far and when I think back - FEAR - is a truly motivating factor.

Happy Thanksgiving to you Dean and your family and of course to all your DG members.

Great message this week!

I will start by saying how grateful we are for the lives we have since becoming full time investors. We are grateful for all you have shared and taught us Dean. Thank you.

I love something that my son once told me: He said that there are 2 kinds of people; those that are afraid to fail, and those that are afraid to miss an opportunity. Yep, my 26 year old son tries to live by that! We do too!! Being afraid to fail is paralysing, so let the possibilities off all the success you can handle push you through that paralysis Smiling

Thanks again for this site, and all the opportunities you have afforded us Dean.

All the best!!! Julie and John

How True,
Fear can be a huge motivator, Thanks for reminding me (and everyone on here) about these little gibbets of information.

PS Happy Thanksgiving!!!

fear

Thank you for your great information, especially the information on fear. Fear has been a crippler for some areas of my life, but as I pray, meditate on God's word and of course, listen to the great information presented by such awesome people as this group, my fear leaves. One of my closest friends says to do what you have to do even when you are afraid. I also wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. God bless you, Eleanor.

Thank You

Thank you for turning fear around. I never thought about using it as a motivator. This is very interesting. I'll make a list of the things I fear and turn them around and see what happens. Happy Thanksgiving DG family

Flipping in more ways than one

Thanks for the great suggestion Dean. It really is true that how we look at things can make a big difference in the results we get in life.

Just like we flip houses we evaluate the house and decide what needs to be removed and replaced we can learn to recognize those things we need remove from our own lives and much of it can come from simply thinking differently.

Thanks again!

EXACTLY FIP FEAR....

CandC's picture

At times fear creeps up and then the work I did yesterday is followed up by phone calls today which gets me going forward, not only flip houses but FLIP FEAR. I have more faith in you than myself, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to face my fears and failures. I woke up this morning telling myself I a looser and then got a call from my REA to sign purchase contract on 14 unit apts. Done hope to close asap. Do it afraid. Just do it. Did not think twice. Zombie mode. Happy and Safe Thanksgiving to you, your family, staff and all the DG students. God Bless.

One of the lessons I learned early on from you is to celebrate little successes along the way. I have found it to make a huge difference and always recommend it! Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you Dean

I'm most thankful this year for you Dean, actually I'm thankful for what you have taught me over the past few years. These next few weeks have the makings for one of the worst times for me I can ever recall in my many years on this earth.
The day before Thanksgiving, my Mate is going in for surgery which will leave her short handed for a while and depending on me for more than I was prepared for ( but will step up and be there for her), 3 days later would have been my Mom's next birthday only she died a couple months back, my upcoming birthday, 3 day after Mom's, is now marred by the 1st anniversary of the death of my favorite Aunt ( the last member of my late Dad's family.) That's just the front stuff! The peripheral fallout of these things makes for an even longer story which I won't bore you all with. HOWEVER, through my new ways of dealing and thinking, I am not devastated by these events. I am finding the positives to be gained through them. I'm not complaining, thanks to you!

So I want to wish you, Dean, and your family as well as the entire DG family a very Happy Thanksgiving filled with all of the fixins and plenty of cheer. Laughing out loud
