When I am having negative thoughts I like to interupt them by telling myself "I am blessed and highly favored". It works.

That is great advise CBR. Thank you. I have not made any money in RE yet but I will remember what you said when I do. I am very blessed in every way except for my finances. Working on that now though...

you always hear 'give and you will receive' I always try and give some, even if it is not monetary. Time is more valuable than money.

You should ALWAYS be in the giving mode, whether it's money, your time, your knowledge, your food, your clothes, your furniture or even something you no longer use. Only through giving do you receive YOUR blessings. Have you ever heard that when you open your hand, that God opens His hand? It's true, I have proven that to myself over and over. When you start hoarding what you have, you stop the flow of blessings from reaching you. So even if you don't have money to give, you have something that you can give, everyone does, just remember Luke 6:3... “Give and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom.”

I am so proud of you (you too Elana) for all you have done and still acknowledging God as the one who made it possible.
I have sadly seen a couple people I know change because their businesses have grown immensley. They are just like you described...arrogant and seem to think they are better than others. May God continue blessing you in your career.

Very well said! It's funny that this was posted because it was just yesterday that I sent a PM to Pastor Greg asking that we pray for each other that we would guard our hearts and minds as we move forward and begin to make money. We must guard against greed and pride and stay focused.

I was really blessed tonight while reading these posts. (I'm sitting up for this) My daughter is here (Arizona) visiting from California and we were having just this conversation earlier. She sees how excited I am about this and she was a little worried that I may be putting this first before God. I assured her that I thought this was *from* God lol. Well, she still had some trepidation because I was telling her I would really like to get her involved as well. She's 19 and I think this would be perfect for her. I said we should pray about it and we did, and she's going continue to, to see if it's for her as well. So, I will take heed and be sure to put God first in all I do, including this, and I know He'll bless me! Us!

This is so important, and something we all need to keep in the forefront. One of the greatest things I look forward to in this journey personally is being able to give back to the churches and ministries that have helped to spread the word of God and spread the gospel, and have helped me to grow in His love, as well as all the other non profit organizations doing so much (St. Jude Children's Hospital for one!). The exercises Dean tells us to do in gratitude have a twofold benefit of recognizing all the blessings we have in our life, as well as to steer away from negativity when we are starting out. All glory goes to God, He gives us everything we have, any talents we may have, and brings people into our life that affect it. It so important to never forget where you come from and you'll be able to relate to those around you who may be where you started out.

Wanted to bring it to the top

We are a couple with two children, one disabled. By faith and our income tax return jumped into the car with the kids and a 5x8 "uhaul"- donated all the housely goods and started over in a place we believe could well be the best place on earth, currently.

WE have only been here a bit-over a week and have no money left over of our taxes due in part by our trip and the other part... we have been self employed and the little place we are renting did not allow for self employment as a source of verifiable income as they need provable income at three times the rental amount! Therefore we bought out a lease for four months (the last four months of thier lease) and now have no rent, yet no money.

We started out with DG books a few days prior to our move. We know this is the place. We have opened Saviour Cleaning to try and hold us over (cleaning) have yet to obtain a client. Found a couple really good deals my future husband will be filling you in on.

He has found you very intriguing and constantly refers to you in our business conversations.

You know, John 14:26 comes to mind. The holy ghost (comforter) brings us those things to say in the right moments when we have the courage, faith, things are going right for us, and we're doing all we physically can do. Sometimes it takes a little faith and a lot of action to see results. It probably helps to have some kind of outline with you, though. Congrats, Woke!

I just read your post, and try to keep your faith strong through the next few weeks. But you can make this work and get some money rather quickly especially if you want to assign a property or maybe offer to work with another investor.
Where are you living, in what city or state. I don't ever hear of someone moving to Wisconsin, they usually head for warmer states. But let us know where you are from and maybe someone from that area can help with better ideas for you.
It would make a huge difference if you could find a REI meeting to attend. They will even offer some other meetings. I found one not far from me and didn't even have money to attend it for $15, but they had a free meeting at a restaurant where about 60 attend once a month and have a meal and talk. I went to that, got invited to the first meeting for free on Tuesday night, and met many people and had offers to work together.
So even call the person sponsoring the meetings and ask if you could attend for the first time as a quest and not have to pay the first time.
But there are ways to make enough money to get through for now as you start looking for the deals and learning more.
I will pray for your success to come soon and for the wisdom on how to find them and get them done that will be a blessing to you and those you help with their homes.
Maybe start a new journal and let us know how you are doing each week, and I'm sure you will get help from a lot of good people on here.

Once you start making some decent money, people tend to FORGET where they came from and get 'too big for their britches'. They become arrogant and think they are so much better than anyone else.

Remember, you can end up where you started from.

Thanks Matt. I have seen it put division in families when someone starts really making the money. All of a sudden they don't communicate the way they use to and somehow think they are better than anyone else. That is so sad and it isn't even a matter of somebody trying to hit them up for money. Somehow making a lot of money just changes the attitude in more ways than one. I for one want to remain humble and share my knowledge with others. This is a very good thread and the best part of the DG family is that we are grounded and full of praise. Always "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you". Its one of the very first things I remember learning at an early age.

Exactly two years and I'm just now finding this post! Great advice CBR! I can hardly wait to bless others! I'm on my way and, thanks to Dean, You & Others, the path is already laid for myself & others. I'd appreciate any and all assistance & support from the entire DG family! God bless...

I couldn't agree more with this. Staying humble after having success is so critical to staying grounded.

Yes..Matthew 10:8b NIV says: "Freely you have received, freely give."

Talents, gifts, and abilities...prosperity...all come from God's grace!---which He gives freely in Love and commands us to do in His likeness.
We are to emulate Him by giving back.

Ironically, the first part of this Scripture speaks about healing, cleansing, and 'casting out the demons.'
Greed, pride (the bad kind) and arrogance are part of God's opposition.
It's difficult to give freely with a closed hand (and a closed heart).
