Hello my DG.com Family:
For some on here - its been a long time since I have been active in the forums but its just because I have been busy....very busy in fact.
I just wanted to share how my life has evolved since reading Deans books, getting my first deals out of the way, studying hard and creating new "Destiny" for myself.
Most of you already know my story and know that I recently lost my eyesight. As an update to that, I have gain sight back in the right eye but still have none in the left. But I am not going to get diverted here - I want to tell you what I have been up to.
Since the Edge Conference last year, I decided that the best direction for me to take was to learn more about the diferent areas of REI and the opportunities there. So I discovered Bulk Acquisitions or as more commonly called Bulk Sales.
To be quite honest I found it interesting, then I found it fun, then I found it profitable...very profitable. But before everyone reading this starts thinking that this its the way for them - STOP! It took me a long time studying up on this area of REI and falling on my face before I got my foot in the door but once I did it was a piece of cake becasue I am everywhere on the internet you can almost look.
So here I am and here is where I have been. I learned the vast majority of what I know by reading Deans books....not one time or even two or three. At last count it had read BARM and PFRRN over 150 times each. I still keep copies in my truck, my home, my briefcase and even my office. I learned how to build a strong buyers list, how to build a seller list, how to market to a client, how to formulate an equation that would tell me if a deal was really a GOOD deal for me. I learned multiple ways to buy a house and profit from the beginning, middle AND the end. I learned that in order to succeed I had to work for it and work hard. I had to think a little and sometimes a LOT differently. I had to know when to walk away and when to tilt my head to the side and say ....yeah... I can make this work.
Well I have since progressed from being a SFR REI to owning a Bulk Acquisitions company that closed almost 50 deals last year acting as either the buyers rep, sellers rep or intermediary. They may not have been HUGE... but they were regular. And it was through that hard work and due dilligence...lol...literally... that I was recently approached by 6 (six) other companies to join a merger between them.
I did my reasearch, studied not only what they did but how I could benefit from this merger, what I had to bring to the table, what they were bringing and the biggest thing of all - could I do this. Well the other 6 partners all represented 6 seperate Brokerage, Real Estate, Financial Planning and REI companies from around the US. All were closing an average dollar amount of $250MM per year collectively and they were coming to ME!
Needless to say - my first question wasn't "Can I do this"....BUT "How do I do this?" I did what I do best - I read. I read some more and I asked questions, lots of questions. Well we fly to Fort Meyers, FL Jan 24-29 to sign final contracts. I just went from Deans student to Chief Operations Officer for a MAJOR REI corporation - heading the Enterprise Division (clients spending $250MM and above in a single transaction) and what really gets me about this is that THEY CAME TO ME!
The corporation is called North American Equity Partners, Inc.
So once again people - I have a moral to this story. Eveolution can only come when you make a change. For those of you out there that are still hesitating and worrying about someone telling you NO - either take that step or sit back down. Dean and his books were the stepping stone for the Awesome Opportunity I am living this very moment. You may not have the aspirations that I did but you have dreams.
For those of you that know me on here, or that have read my story and read my post - you know I am far from a quitter. I went from a hospital room and facing eviction to holding mutiple cash-flowing properties, founding SoCal Real Estate Investors (Group) to becoming Chief Operations Office (COO) of a major REI corporation. My evolvement has been an awesome journey and I want to thank Dean and the DG team for helping me get there.
It has not been easy but guys I dont worry about paying bills anymore, I dont have to check my bank balance before I go to the dollar store - I dont have to and why is that? Because I took action then I took the REI world by storm. Along the way I made a grat family here on dg.com and I will always be here. I lok forward to seeing you all at the EDGE CONFERENCE 2010!
I know this was long but I just wanted to tell my family on here why I have not been around and what I have been doing. So if you are interested, I am now starting this as my new journal. I am caling it hte EVEOLUTION OF ANITA!

I have been wondering where you have been. Haven't heard from you in awhile & very glad to hear that your on yet another REI journey. I noticed when you went into bulk deals awhile back. I hope you can continue with the SoCal Group meetings or be a speaker at Kimmy's REI clubs that she took over. Always love learning from you & hope to see you again soon.

I just wanted to tell all of you thank you for your kind replies. I have orked very hard to get to this point and will continue to do so even more. I learned a long time ago that the only real obstacle in our life is our self. My left eye still does not have sight but I see so much more with what I do have because I choose to open my mind and my thinking and embrace it all. You dont have to be blind to do that so embrace your goals and go get them!

You inspire me with your story
Thanks for your story. I am not sure I know all or the story but the one that touches me is when you said "I don't have to check my bank balances anymore before I go to the dollar store". That is where I am now. But you give me hope that I am going to overcome whatever challenges that comes my way. Presently, I do have to check my bank balances. I am dreaming of that day that I will not have to do that anymore. The day that I will not have to wait for payday. That I will be financially free.
You gave me hope that is possible.
