Thank you Dean for another great dose of weekly wisdom. I am glad to see you working out even if you have zero body fat dang you. Keep up the good work. Seeing you work out makes us what to work out more again and eat better. Most of all you gave us the want to go out stop dabbling in REI and go all in and we started that after our brainstorming meeting with you and Matt plus the other 15 students. People here on DG.com are going to start seeing a lot more coming from Steve and Veronica over the years to come.

Thank you Dean for what you do for us.
God bless you and your family and spend a lot more time with them.

Steve and Veronica.

Only Me!

Thank you Dean! GREAT message! Man, it's like you did this one straight to me! Balance, priorities, breaking things to have the break through! YEP this one is just for me! lol

I'm constantly hearing your example in my head about the book shelf like being 24 hrs. in the day and if we choose to put something on it we must take something off. To be honest have let that slip. I had the original bookshelf, then just started building an additional shelf. lol!

Thank you for the reality check and I know I MUST break A LOT of things to have a greater breakthrough!

Guess kind of like if you aren't carrying such a 'heavy' load enables us to 'run' faster!
Note to self: MUST cut the dead weight!

Good grief, you are brilliant! LOL Smiling

Appreciate you!

God bless,
Jen

I'm so happy to hear you are spending more time with those darling kids! You set an example for us in more than REI! That is one thing I always do - put time with my family first. Sometimes that means I do let the work pile for a day, but it's still there for me when I return. However, this IS the time to cash in - and I am after it!
Wish I could have been in the Inner Circle last week; must have been amazing. Choices choices...

Feeling better

Dean, I'm glad you are feeling better about spending time with your family and getting some exercise in your life again. Thank you for sharing it with us and making it a wisdom lesson.

Ready! Set! Buy!

I have been reading comments, journals and blogs for a while. Learning what I can, when I can. I tried some suggestions to only fall but has not discouraged me. Push onward. I just purchased the new book, "30 Days to Real Estate Cash." I can't wait to be the next success story. I'm determined and failure will not win.
What more can I do before the book arrives?

Perfect!

Thank you Dean! This is Perfect Timing. Instead of saying yes it's almost more important to 'Say No to 1,000 Things,' Steve Jobs. It's interesting on how reading another book outside of real estate still applies the same principles. I think about what we need to give up in order to get ahead. It's something I'm constantly working on. Thank you for always sharing how the principle applies to your personal life and that you do know what it takes.

Great meeting you in Vegas and had a great time. Now to apply some of what I learned and help motivate others that I met.

It's something I'm stuggling with right now Dean -and I'm so happy you choose to share this. I am currently working to try to stop DABBLING in RE but to attack it full force. Being a Mother, working FT, and trying to get our RE Business off the ground, I'm finding it hard to MAKE the time to just fit it into my normal routine.

I know now that I have to just BREAK my normal schedule NOW, and MAKE it my HIGH Priority to make this breakthough to doing what I want, on my own time, and having more time for my Son and Family by giving us more freedoms than ever before!!

Thanks Dean - this is my mission this week - to get my schedule RE-WORKED and setting us up for SUCCESS!!

You truly do know don't you!

Dean: Thank you more so for the acknowledgement. You experience the same time restraints that we experience. Those days, weeks that just simply don't give us all the time we need. Evaluating my schedule, How fast can my body and mind go? I am a new student. I simply am not going as fast as I want too. Setting priorities is the key.
Have a good week

Las Vegas

Hello Dean.
I just came back from LAS after a real bungle by DL on its late flight to JFK(along with about 230 other travellers). I have just listened to your blog first thing, breaking my past habits. The Edge was extremely useful, enjoyable and very informative and every speaker brought something different to the conference, and every thing they said and taught complements what we learned and are learning. It was more than expected. Looking forward 5 years (or less)from now when I can look back and see that I have have accomplished something very positive with your methods for my family.

Thank you!

The older we get, the more we learn, but the more we realize we what we don't know. Thanks Dean for your courage in sharing your personal thoughts. I think thats why we bond with you so much.

GOD gives us all a portion of treasure called "TIME".
How we spend it, determines our journey and dictates our destiny.

Yes, we need that

bahney's picture

Yes, we need that breakthrough. Everyday tasks take over our lives and we need to stay focused and move forward to what's important.

THANKS DEAN!

You hit the nail on the head for sure this time. I need to start exercising more and eating right. I used to be a fanatic! But, life got in the way, some health issues discouraged me, so what did I do? The opposite of what I should be doing. How dumb is that? I'm really going to stop sitting on the fence now and get moving. It's not going to happen by itself, and certainly not by osmosis just by reading and listening to others. I need to stop using my circumstances as an excuse. I need to do it. Just do it. Thanks for being there for us, Dean!

Today's Blog

ibuynsell4less's picture

Hey everyone,
I want to confess something and I think today's blog made me realize something! As far as I can remember I've always had a passion for real estate. Any type of properties I would see or walk into I would admire and experience a vision for potential improvements that could be made. My dad has always done maintenance work for realtors and real estate investors, so I was the kid who wanted to tag along and learn the trades just to be in that atmosphere. As we grow older life takes its turns and your true passion for things gets pushed aside. Does anyone just sit and think, Wow, time does fly? Wow, its been ten years and what have I done with myself? Well I do, which I don't really regret, but maybe If I could, I would do things a little differently! The moral of this response is that I've been studying everything there is to know about Real Estate from every Video, Book, and Cd's I could get my hands on about real estate investing for the past 6-8 months! So today I realized that if I don't begin to take action, everything I've been doing is just a hobby for me and I need to stop worrying that I've haven't learned enough and to take the next step! I truly believe I can do this and I believe my biggest fear moving forward is Success! For some reason I want to become an expert at everything I learn, especially in Real Estate! So I need to continue on treating real estate as a hobby, but converting that hobby into production and success! I've been telling myself "I love it, I want it, so go get it"

Thanks for reading and listening,
J-

Great message. I have been working on this for the past two weeks or so. I hate to say I have to Re-Org myself, and that I had to down size some things I enjoy doing. It is what needs to happen to enjoy the things that truely matter in your life. Thank you for the insight Dean!!

You are so right! Thanks!

What a great blog! I absolutely love learning about real estate investing, but also have absolutely been treating this learning (reading, watching, listening) as a hobby! After long, stressful days at work and then spending time with the family, I would often curl up with one of your books, or spend hours reading posts on here. It has been a lovely hobby (and escape). Well, it's time to take action now. I was recently furloughed from my job, which gives me more motivation and time. No more excuses! I don't want to look back on this time of opportunity with regret.
Thanks again for getting me thinking and motivated!

Thank you...

Thank you Dean. I feel like every week you give these messages directly for me. It reminds me of what I need to do to get my breakthrough. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

At the end of your life you

At the end of your life you will never say, "I wish I had spent more time working". What REALLY matters in life is relationships.
It's wonderful that you realized this before your children were grown. Smiling Good for you! There are many fathers who realize this all too late. You will never regret the time spent with your kids. It is precious!
Life balance is critical so taking care of your special relationships and taking care of YOURSELF are extremely important.
I also understand "loving what you do" and feeling as though that is all you need to do in life. However, finding balance in life and taking time for recreation helps you "re-create" yourself giving you much needed energy for the long haul.
Thanks for sharing your insight. I'm sure you've helped many workaholic fathers gain much needed perspective.

Spot on Dean. Thanks for your honesty. Without you and your company I wouldn't be where I am at. We are now working on our 3rd SFR rental and life couldn't be better.
