Wow Dean - this so inspired me. It's one of your best messages ever. First of all, the story about the year difference in the boys for hockey/sports...that is absolutely what happened by my son John. Being our first, we didn't realize how parents tend to start their boys later. John's birthday is in May, so he ended up being amongst the youngest in his class who were where the "should" be and a year to 2 years younger than those boys who started a year later. It impacted his experience not only in sports, but academically as well. Algebra for instance, the comprehension of those concepts are developmentally dependent. It impacted his relative performance and his confidence. But now, I must reflect on the "life happens for you" angle and say, he will ultimately use this to his advantage in what he accomplishes in life. I'm sure this is something you will want to consider as Brody approaches Kindergarten and First Grade. Then the whole sh.. stories! I keep thinking I have flushed those out of my life, then I find another. It's a continually battle - but that's great because that means there's always a new victory and growth opportunity. I could go on - but suffice it to say - Thanks! You f'n Rock! (LOL - I see my name and my good friends on your white board!!)
Dean,
Thank you for doing another weekly wisdom video. As new students do that first deal they will gain more confidence to do more deals. The first deal is always the hardest. I wish everyone good luck in getting that first deal done. If you believe in yourself others will soon believe in you too. Make it a great day by making every day count! OUSTANDING message Dean !!! That book is also on my shelf and you are absolutely right !! When we gather the courage to get " in the game " then the MOMENTUM of confidence starts to build and it compounds to levels that are not realized until we are "IN ". It is amazing to hear see and read your Dailey wisdom and be sparked to just do something extra tomorrow !!!!
Thanks for your inspiration !!
weekly wisdom #278
Dean, This is the coolest video blog!! Don't you ever make bad video blogs?
I have not seen one yet. Thank you so very much!
I join you IE today. Thank you again!
Dean...
Love how you are always so fired up on your weekly wisdoms...it fires me up! Everything I've been taught has worked so far.
Yes, it takes courage, but once you get past the fear of making a phone call or putting out signs, or whatever it is, you start getting confidence to keep going. I'm living proof! I constantly come back to DG.com to get information, motivation or whatever I need. And IE is helping me a lot too. Just watching the daily wisdoms on IE will give you courage to go out there and make it happen!
Thanks Dean!
Everyone--do what Dean says to do--it works!!!!
#1 thing needed to close your first deal!
Hi Dean,
Another great weekly wisdom.......
I am going to read those two books you recommend.......
I agree, you gotta be in the game.....to win it....can't win it from the side lines....Thank You .......
Regards,
Sharon
You Always Make Me Think
Dean, personally I have cut off almost all negative influences radio, computer, TV and particularly negative people. That includes politics, doom and gloom our currency is going to collapse, etc. When those things have been removed as negative influences then it boils down to me. How I feel about myself. Subconsciously Do I feel like I am a Loser or a Winner? As I stated before, The battle between my ears is how I feel about myself, do I have faith in myself to motivate me to action and then keep doing it until success comes with all the initial failures. Coaching is great, but you still have to do it. Your coach isn't going to be there every moment holding your hand. We have to be willing to do it on our own sometime. Not quitting pushing forward no matter what is the only way to win. Losers quit and give up, stop trying. Your Weekly Wisdom is truly inspirational. I want to thank you for that. I am currently using Tony Robbins Incantations to change my mindset. It's beginning to work. I must do it daily, which I am not. I am seeing myself, actually I am beginning to love myself, which I never have. I am not a bad person, I always try to do what is right. My battle is to change how I feel about me. I know what I am describing may sound like an excuse, but it's not and it is a real issue that many people like me have which is keeping them from success. I am a successful design engineer for The Boeing Company, yet I want more out of life. Actually Real Estate Investing isn't that difficult of a concept, very straight forward. Follow the success pattern of others and repeat it over and over. Dean thank you so much for caring. It makes a difference. Hey Dean, Who won the trip to The Edge event? Has it been announced?
Outliers is now on my books to read list
Thanks Dean for recommending me both books by Maxwell, I would be reading them both. Great weekly wisdom!!
I wish I had this before.....
Wow, What a great WW Dean. I wish I had heard this a few years ago when I was getting started. I was one of the ones who thought it was all or nothing and fell victim to continual disappointment over my lack of progress. I would not look for deals because I couldn't find buyers so I switched areas. Then I found buyers but couldn't find deals so I switched areas. I just kept thinking I had to have it all today or nothing! Man, did I waste so much time So now, I have gone through the academy, became a loyal IEer, attended my first EDGE event ( and will be back this year as well) and started filling one bucket at a time, gradually. I am in better shape emotionally as well as business wise for doing these as I now better understand that it all won't happen overnight. But it will happen eventually as long as I keep at it. That's what I am doing. (The key word here is DOING!)
So thank you again for these wonderful bits of wisdom every week. Just so you know, I'm eating the Elephant as fast as I can
On a side note, please send Matt my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Remind him we need his presentation at the EDGE 2014 to be done IN PERSON!
Until next week.......

Dean,
Great weekly wisdom! We just listened to Outliers audio book on a long road trip. We can give our children an advantage in life with some of our choices for them as parents but many are create through circumstance, persistence and opportunity. The examples of year round vs summer break schools opened my eyes along with the Bill Gates and Bill Joy opportunity to computer program in 8th grade. Also this book taught me that it takes 10,000 hrs to be an expert. All the people who had success were able to put in 10,000 hrs faster than others and then take advantage of their opportunities and get over their failures along the way.
Thanks for your continued inspiration to help us to keep moving forward.
Make it a great week!
Thom
Great inspiration Dean!
thank you Dean, so very much, for giving me the motivation, the tools, and the education to have the courage to succeed in rei; and as you say, once you have the courage, the confidence follows... and so it has for me...
I work so very hard, every day, but the joy I receive with every deal that I accomplish is so rewarding! the impact I have been making on so many people's lives, from the workers that rehab my properties, to the tenants for whom I create opportunities to live in safe, clean, pretty homes in nice neighborhoods, gives me great satisfaction; and then to know that by doing these deals, I am creating wealth for me and my family! Every investor should buy and hold at least one property... it is challenging, but such a wonderful experience!

Insightful information
Many years ago we did not have any form of pre school. When I started first grade you had to be 6 prior to 1 September to begin class. With my birthday in August, I was one of the youngest kids in my class. Kids whose birthday was in September had to wait to the next year to start class. The one year of maturity is so important at that age but the confidence of loving, supportful parents can help to overcome this disadvantage .
Great Subject " Courage "
Dean; You are a such a super energized, positive, unique, individual person that really know what it takes to really influence people(me)to be courageous.
Thank You.
Roger Bray
Thanks Dean
Great weekly wisdom Dean. I am a January baby and I always wondered why I was so much a better athlete than the rest of my class. (Lol). No I was one of the last ones picked to be on a team during PE class. I was one of the smallest boys in the class. I look at classmates today and there are some doing much better than me and a lot of them not doing very good at all.
I thank you Dean for the knowledge to better myself and my family. I have not done as many deals as some of the rock stars on this site but I do have rental properties that give me a check every month. I would not have the rental checks if I did not have the confidence in REI that you taught us Dean.
Thank you
Steve and Veronica.
courage
Dear Dean, you are absolutely correct once again.
I feel that you are so helpful with getting all of
us to look at what is so effective on pushing us to
the next level.
Thanks Again,
Kevin
Courage and Confidence
Another great weekly wisdom! Thanks Dean! When I was starting school, we did not have pre-school or kindergarten and my birthday is November 27th. I was a slow starter, but by high school was doing great! I am very shy so it takes courage to make calls and do what it takes, but the confidence builds with PRACTICE!
As someone who is visually impaired, a lot of books are available on CD......great for listening to in the car, etc. I know Outliers and a lot of Tony Robbins stuff is available from Nightingale-Conant.
Thanks again for the motivation!
Linda

super Dean
That was really good & it is sooo true Dean as always, it is between the ears! What we tell ourselves I am convinced of it now boy, took me a while but I got it . So listening to the educ on IE, going to my REIA's, hanging with posititive people, going to the Edge! And I believe I will go to the mastermind after too!
Courage > Confidence > Results
I will simplify, focus and take steps with forward thinking.
Thanks for another simple but great message.
By my title I mean it's not rocket science, but no one said it would easy. The only thing that stands in our way at the end of the day is ourselves!I'm confident in so many things I do, but since this is new and uncharted territory to me, I'm still floundering. The only way to achieve this is to reach deep for that little bit of courage and to take those baby, fill each bucket steps like you teach.
Thanks for the reminder Dean.
Hey Dean
Well since you bumped into my son you know I went to Tony Robbins UPW. Thursday we did the firewalk and courage is obviously not a problem, but that was just the beginning. By the end I'm ready to ramp things up. We have to have more numbers before the edge. I've learned many things over the past few days, but what you talked about on this ww was new to me. Thanks for all you do and all you bring to the table for us, your dg family.
"keep moving forward", Rob
These are true gems!
Courage comes before confidence! I have never know that!
A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step at a time!
Thank you Dean!
Courage
Yes Dean, i have the courage. I have rental properties me & my wife acquired many years ago & all are free & clear. Those deals were made by just plain desire to acquire additional income to support our retiree=ment. I haven't work for any corporate america entity since my retirement from the u.s. air force retirement in June 1994. I fulfilled m =y dream but is always dissatisfe=ied. So we saw one of your infomercials on televs=ision in 2012 & decided to make the plunge, the education was pretty pricey, $36k, We pursued the actions, kowledge you given us, but, as of this writing, we haven't acquired not a single deal. Most of our lives, when we marrid in the philippines, my wife is filipino, we took action, i was age 22, purchase my first single residence home, a triplex, & another single residence for rent income while i was station at clark air force base, philippines, we went on & accomplished more deals in the usa, but all of our deals, we did not have a mentor, it was our only desire to be financially secure. Courage, potential, confidence, is not the problem, the challenge is, most americans are in the greed attitude, they bid up prices on the mls, the craiglist bunch, wants more than their properties are worth, just a great big ball of confusion.
we acquired our laundromat in 2007 with a carryback, not assistance from know one but our own desire to acquire more income assets to bring in xtra income.
we purchase the building , equipment, the parking lot space, all from a negotiating deal that was very successful with great numbers to provide a great positive cash flow. When i came on board with your organization, there was an individual who sold me your inner circle package, his name was -- last name was Gordon, he definitely was a great salesman, but i was apprehensive on him selling such a large sum pkg, i did not need all of that, but i am the type that never gripes, but when i calls him, he is no where to be found. Not any reference to you, but what me & my wife vision from some of the people who surrounds your inner circle is not alright to be trusted, they makes your organization looks bad. but anyway. Courage is a skill i accomplished many years ago at age 22 when i first started real estate, retired at 38 years of age was a great accomplishment, but i will not give up, my realtor, she is working hard in getting our first deal, but its been over 2 years & we haven't acquired not a single deal. all my deals were made when i did not need other masterminds in our life, i thought it wuld be wise to let you know this, not to offend you, you were great when we met you at the conference in Las
vegas. keep this website going, your inspiration is my guide & motivator. we are doing fine, but i just wanted to let you know, what was going on. with some of the people in your circle. We love you Dean, .... take care....
Weekly Wisdom #278 thing needed to close your first deal!
Thanks Dean, you are absolutely correct. And I cannot argue with that. I really needed to hear those words. lately I have been making excuses to myself. And at the same time, I been reading 30 Days To Real Estate Cash. I feel like I already know what to do. And it's all because of you your books and your weekly wisdom. It's just a matter of courage. You gave me everything I need to win at this game. And I will not let myself down. Thanks for the video and everything else.

I just read another book and it caught my attention : when you having a problem you should ask yourself WHY 3 times and keep a log on it.
Courage to Confidence....Faith to Action!
Thank you, Dean, so much for that message. I'm motivated to keep stepping out there with my goals. Each step crushing fear and rewriting the "story" of my life, God willing.
