OfflineWell today was a monumental day for me. I completed deal number 100. I have been running toward this dream for 4 years. It hasn't been easy. I lived in a 300 square foot apartment a little over 4 years ago. Broke and unhappy with life, just wanting a way out. When I started in real estate I had never even purchased a home to live in. I was taught by my dad to avoid ever buying a home-he said it was a bad investment, he said I would never live to pay it off anyway. I had a lot of mental obstacles to overcome because of the way he programed my mind for poverty. I pushed thru my fears. Overcame many, many obstacles. I remember friends and family telling me along the way that what I was doing wasn't worth it, that it would never pay off, that maybe other people could make real estate work, but I wasn't cut out for it. A very close friend of mine told me I would never be able to make it work.
Well, it was worth it. The price I paid seems pretty small now that I look back. The deal I did today had a absolute net profit of over $47,000. Not too bad. I have done better, but I am not going to complain. I don't talk about most of the deals I do because they are all very simple deals. Once you have done a few flips, or a few assignments, or a few lease options, or even a few rentals it is all pretty much just a repeat of the things you did the first time. You will tweek things along the way, but for the most part its really a simple process.
It was kind of a fun week. I bought a new car which was cool. I added a life insurance policy that set the record for my agent as his biggest policy he had ever done (my annual premium cost more than I used to make per year!) All that stuff is really cool, but you know what I really like? I like doing deals and I like to win. The money just comes with it.
Within the next 30 days I will close another 10 deals that are pended right now including 3 next week. I have new goals now. I am running for my 1000th deal within the next 6 years. Its all possible, very possible.
My question for you is this. What is holding you back from your first deal, or 10th deal, or 50th deal? Really what is it? I suggest you write down what is holding you back on a piece of paper. Then write down how you are going to destroy whatever it is that is holding you back on that same piece of paper. Then post it up on your bedroom wall above the light switch like I used to do. That way it is the first thing you see every single morning. Go out there and get this thing done. Don't let anything hold you back. Have the mindset that you won't be denied. The world can't stop someone who won't be denied! Get it done!!!

Your story is so inspiring to me anyway, but to see you reach your 100th deal in just 4 years is a great motivator. If you can accomplish this with people doing their best to discourge you and having to overcome obstacles in your own mind, I can too.

Wow Matt, Congrats on the big 100! If you can do 100 then I am sure 1000 deals are very possible. It is amazing. I'm sure you are riding around in your new car, must be a great feeling. Is it a sports car? I know if I keep working, one day I will be able to get a really nice sports car, a ferarri or lamborghini. = )

I really appreciate all of the compliments from everyone! You people are awesome! Part of the reason I post my RESULTS is to motivate people and show them what is actually possible. When I first started with coaching, the most successful student that Dean had was a guy from Kansas that had completed 10 real estate deals in 2 years. I thought that was amazing! All I could think about was being able to do what he did. I set the goal to beat him and I was able to do it within several months. But, had he not done 10 deals so quickly I might have never thought it was possible. By him becoming great, it helped me strive for greatness. So when I say I have raised the bar, I am saying that in a positive way. If me doing 100 deals in about 4 years helps you to set the goals to do 10 in a year then I have done my job. Then you have brand new investors like Randy Vaughn (who I coached)that in his first year did way more deals than I did in my first year. He started with nothing and look at him go. That really helps me feel good inside. And Chad Merrihew, and Mark Jansen, and Jake Greer-all of these people are also on the road to do great things. I can't wait to see.
Rina, you are an amazing investor. I'm glad I could help. There is nothing holding you back. You will hit 100 deals-then 1000 for sure. (I'm glad I could make all the mistakes and then tell you what not to do
